As the issue of environment regulation of the automobiles and tires has come to the fore around world recently, there is a growing interest in radiated noise and almost companies are trying to receive higher rating for strengthening the competitiveness of their products. The structures, tread patterns, design factors of tires play important parts in determining the features of radiated noise. The diversified studies on these mechanisms have been increased. This study not only identifies the links between the noise characteristics of tires and some factors the position, speed from the tires but proposes the way to estimate the radiated noise using BEM.

The tire is considered as one of the important noise sources having an influence on vehicle’s performance. The Pattern noise of a tire is the transmission sound of airborne noise. On smooth asphalt road, Pattern noise is amplified with the velocity. In recent, the study on the reduction of Pattern noise is energetically processed. Pattern noise is strongly related with tread groove depth. And air-pumping mechanism is influenced by groove depth. So noise modeling is simulated by monopole source.
노면 Profile 형상 측정을 통한 Road Noise 영향도 연구

Road noise is very important, having an influence on vehicle’s performance. To improve test and prediction method of road noise, this study considered the effect of road profile, exciting the tire’s tread. Therefore we should take account of road roughness, by measuring road’s surface though test rig. Because, The road surface Profile has a large influence on the sound emission level of tire / road noise. Consequently, firstly, we have measured the FRF of tire and the vibro-acoustic function of vehicle by indoor test. Secondly, to predict road noise, we have used vector synthesis technique, applying the transfer function of tire and vehicle. Finally, we have compared the results of outdoor test and prediction.
