This paper suggests the inductive power collector using electromagnetic induction for railway vehicle such as the PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) system. Some ideas for inductive power collector design to improve the power transfer performance are presented. The inductive power of secondary part is related to amount of linked flux to secondary part by the length of air-gap, which is expected by such a system parameter as leakage reactance and magnetizing reactance. This paper will study for some performance of traditional transformer from equivalent circuit considering leakage reactance

In this paper, the inductive power collector using electromagnetic induction for vehicle such as the PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) system is suggested and some ideas for power collector design to improve the power transfer performance are presented. This paper will study for the transfer characteristic of power from input to output and equation including mutual inductance.

The contact-less inductive power transformer (IPT) uses principle of electromagnetic induction. Generally, there were many methods to improve the transfer performance of traditional transformer. But, though the principle of IPT is similar to that of general transformer, it is impossible to apply the methods because of large air-gap. Consequently, many linear numerical formulas for analysis of performance and design of traditional transformer cannot be used in development of IPT. The concept of the IPT for vehicle like PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) system is suggested and some suggestions for power collector(core & winding) design of IPT to improve power transfer performance are presented in this paper. The characteristic of power delivery with these novel methods in designis presented by simulation and examination.

Urban air quality, including carbon-dioxide emissions, and national energy security are related issues affecting the rail industry and transportation sector as a whole. They are related by the fact that (in the United States) 97-98% of the energy for the transport sector is based on oil, and more than 60% is imported. A fuelcell locomotive combines the environmental advantages of a catenary-electric locomotive with the higher overall energy efficiency and lower infrastructure costs of a diesel-electric. Catenaryelectric locomotives, when viewed as only one component of a distributed machine that includes an electricity-generating plant and transmission lines, are the least energy-efficient locomotive type. The natural fuel for a fuelcell is hydrogen, which can be produced from many renewable energies and nuclear energy. and thus a hydrogen-fuclcell locomotive will not depend on imported oil for its energy supply. This paper proposes a base models of Hybrid fuel cell/IPT railway vehicle power system, the necessary of this research.
