박사과정을 수행하는 초등학교 30대 남교사들이 갖는 이상과 현실의 딜레마에 관한 내러티브 탐구

이 연구는 내러티브 탐구를 통해 박사과정을 수행하는 초등학교 30대 남교사들의 삶과 경험을 기술하고 분석하였다. 이들은 자신들의 삶을 통해 다양한 역할지위를 갖으며 그중 학문과 관련된 대학원생으로서의 삶, 가정과 관련된 가장으로서의 삶, 생업과 관련된 교사로서의 삶을 병행한다. 이러한 역할지위는 이들이 가진 이상과 살아가는 현실 사이에 갈등을 만들며 이들 삶의 딜레마로 작용하게 된다. 그럼에도 이들은 다른 교사들과 ‘구별짓기’ 위해 박사과정 입학을 통해 스스로 딜레마를 선택하였다. 이들의 고등학교 시절부터 형성된 ‘우등생 아비투스’는 교대입학부터 교직 생활 전반에 걸쳐 다른 교사들과 ‘구별짓기’를 위한 기제로 작용하였다. 이와 더불어 ‘따라하기’를 통한 동료사회화도 이들의 박사과정 입학에 영향을 미쳤다. 학문을 가까이하는 동료교사들과의 잦은 소통은 이들을 ‘연구자로서의 교사’의 삶을 살게 하며 이를 통해 박사과정을 선택하게 하였다. 박사과정을 수행하는 초등학교 30대 남교사들은 전체 교사 중 소수에 불과하지만 교사 연구의 중요한 영역인 ‘연구자로서의 교사’의 관점에서 볼 때 이들에 대한 연구는 매우 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 이 연구가 우리 시대 교사 연구의 다양한 관점을 제공하고 교사들의 교육적 삶의 의미를 발견하는데 기여하기를 기대한다. This study is to describe and analyze the lives of male elementary school teachers, who are in their thirties and who took doctoral courses through a narrative inquiry research approach. The ``role status`` in their lives can be seen playing out in three parallel streams: academic life, family life and professional life. These ``role status`` distinctions can cause some conflict between their ideals and reality, so the teachers often find themselves in a dilemma. However, they chose the dilemma on their own by entering a doctoral course in order to ``distinguish`` themselves from other teachers. ``Honor Habitus`` formed from high school worked as a means or a tool to make a distinction from other teachers from the time of entering University of Education. In addition ``peer socialization`` through following their peers also influenced their doctorial course entrance. Frequent communication and relations with fellow teachers who pursued learning, forced them to live as a teacher researcher and also take a doctoral course. There are only a few male elementary school teachers in their thirties. However, from the viewpoint of ``teacher as researcher``, which is an important part of a teacher`s professional obligations, this research about them becomes very significant. This research is expected to provide various aspects on a teacher`s research obligations and contribute to finding the meaning of a teacher`s educational life.
