The trunk conformations of the Gyeongju Donggyeongi (GD), Korean native dog was measured in the present study. Also, the information of reproductive activity was investigated in GD dogs. A total of 73 dogs were randomly selected out of 121 dogs in the Gyeongju County in July 2010, which were registered by inserting electronic chips in the withers. The hair colors of the GD were white, yellow, black and tiger brindle, the mean withers heights were 45.46±4.17 cm and 49.28±3.56 cm for female and male dogs, respectively The mean body length to withers height ratios were 117.63% and 116.4% for the female and male dogs. Concerning the reproductive capability of the GD, the mean litter number was 4.6±1.7, the optimal mating time was 12.5±2.3 days after the rutting season and the mean gestation period was 60.2±2.8 days. The results of this study would be useful for compiling the official standard for the adult GD.

Investigations of hematologic and canine distemper virus, parvovirus antibody titer for DongGyeongi were performed. This study was conducted to determine into feeding and management blood values on DongGyeongi. Blood samples were collected from 110 healthy dogs (male 60, female 50). The diagnostic virus disease and hematologic results were classified by age, sex, color. Although gender differences were not apparent, complete blood cell counts analyses were performed and analyzed accordingly. Statistically significant differences (P¼0.05) specific to age (¼2). Also, The canine distemper virus and parvovirus antibody titer were correlation to age dependent (P¼0.05). In conclusion, data obtained from this study may be valuable as a standard for interpretation of the results in hematologic and major viral antibody titer analysis of DongGyeongi populations. For the management of DongGyeongi, the programs will be used for the epidemic disease prevention.

Stabilization of industrial wastes landfill was investigated, comparing landfill gases(LFG) which were generated from a land site with those from three sets of lysimeter. Lysimeter-packing wastes consisted of 7.2∼17.0 wt.% of combustible component and theoretical gas production rate with their elemental analysis was 0.31∼0.49 ㎥/kg-dry waste. Gas production rate(㎥/kg-dry waste) from lysimeter A, B and C was 0.0009, 0.014 and 0.0067, respectively, and different from each other according to the landfill period of wastes. Applying the Landfill Air Emissions Estimation model of EPA to the landfill site of this research, the production rate of CH_4 is 1.963 × 10 exp(7) ㎥/year in 1998 and reaches to maximum in 2000. Methane and carbon dioxide accounted for 0∼10.2% in gases discharged from gas discharge pipes in the landfill site and were not detected in efflux gases on the landfill surface.
경주개(동경이)의 혈통확인을 위한 microsatellite DNA 다형성 분석

경주지방에서 사육 중인 경주개(동경이) 51두를 대상으로 8개의 microsatellite marker을 이용하여 DNA형을 분석한 결과 대립 유전자 수는 4~12개(평균 8.5개)로 검출되었으며 Expected heterozygosity와 PIC는 각각 0.6162~0.8746(평균 0.7587)와 0.5461~0.8512(평균 0.7167)으로 나타났고, PEZ3, PEZ6, PEZ12, FHC2054 marker는 PIC가 0.7이상으로 나타났다. 이들 marker는 향후 동경이의 개체식별 및 친자확인에 유용하게 쓰일 수 있다. 공시재료 51두 중 사육가에 의해 혈통이 알려진 5두를 대상으로 microsatellite marker를 이용하여 혈통을 분석한 결과 3두에서 현재 가계도와 일치하지 않았다. 따라서 앞으로 더 많은 연구를 통해서 동경이에 대한 체계적인 혈통 정립이 이루어져야 할 것이다. In this study, we analyzed the microsatellite DNA polymorphisms for pedigree verification in Kyungju dog (Dongkyung-i) which is one of the Korean breed dogs. A total of 51 Dongkyung-i samples were genotyped using 8 microsatellite markers. The number of alleles observed at single locus ranged from 4 to 12, with average number of alleles per locus of 8.5. The expected heterozygosity and polymorphic information contents (PIC) values of the 8 micro-satellite loci were 0.6162~0.8746 (mean 0.7587) and 0.5461~0.8512 (mean 0.7167), respectively. Of the 8 markers, PEZ3, PEZ6, PEZ12 and FHC2054 loci had relatively high PIC values (>0.7) in Dongkyung-i. Pedigree verification of Dongkyung-i was analyzed based on alleles observed. The results of the parent-age testing were noted significant differences compared with breeders. These results show basic in-formation of conservation and research in Dongkyung-i, and further studies of genetic pedigree in Dongkyung-i will be needed.

Investigations for hematologic and biochemical values for Gyeongju DongGyeong dogs were performed. This study were conducted to determine normal blood and serum chemical values on DongGyeong dogs. Normal blood and serum chemical values were studied in 47 healthy dogs (male 28, female 19). The hematologic and serum chemistry results were confirmed by age, sex, shape of tail. The hematological values showed no difference from Korea native dogs. The hematocrit values (49.0±8.1(%)) of DongGyeong dogs (2-3 years group) were significantly higher than other dogs. The mean levels of MCV (61.6±3.8(?m3)) in DongGyeong dogs were lower than general dogs. The levels of cholesterol(220±80.5(mg/dl)) and inorganic phosphorus (3.6±1.0 (mg/dl)) of DongGyeong dogs (2~3 years group) were significantly higher than Korea native dogs. Totally concentration of triglyceride (66.2±17.0 (mg/dl)) of DongGyeong dogs were significantly lower than Korea native dogs. The mean values of BUN were increased with age but no significantly. In conclusion, data obtained from this study may be valuable as a standard for interpretation of the results in hematologic and biochemical analysis of Gyeongju DongGyeong dog populations.
경주지방의 무미 또는 단미 형태의 개(경주개 동경이)의 혈청 단백질의 분획에 대한 실태조사

Serum proteins of Korean native dogs (Gyeongju DongGyeong dogs) was analyzed by capillary electrophoresis system. Electrophoretic patterns showed six fractions. Total serum protein and ratio of albumin to globulin were 5.99±0.83 (g/dl) and 1.41±0.29 (g/dl) in DongGyeong dogs. Relative percentages of total serum albumin and α-1, α-2, β-1, β-2, γ-globulin fraction were 57.94±5.43, 3.15±2.30, 7.49±4.09, 9.43 ±3.50, 7.63±5.70, and 14.36±7.63, respectively. It was observed that β-globulin was higher than other fractions. The most striking alternation with age was founded in the γ-fractions. Also, it was observed that ratios of albumin to globulin in DongGyeong dogs were higher than on other dogs.

Anaerobic wastewater treatment of the food and the surfactant was carried out and evaluate applicability of process. The reactor was same as 0.09m-D×l.5m-Height. The types of substrate and the HRT were considered as experimental variables. With the glucose wastewater as a susbtrate and 1 day of HRT, gas production(9ℓ/day), the methane content(57%) and the efficiency of COD removal(92%). With the food wastewater, the gas production was increased with a decrease of HRT, but COD revmoal efficency was decreased. 7.5ℓ/day of the gas production, 88% of the COD removal, 70% of the methane content were taken in food. With the surfactant wastewater as a substrate, 1.5ℓ/day of the biogas production and 50% of the COD removal were achieved, but there were many problems in operating. As a conclusion, the wastewater of the food wastewater could be treated by the anaerobidc digestion successfully.
