본 연구는 자갈 우세의 자갈?모래 혼합 해빈인 포항시 조사리 해빈을 대상으로, 지형 경관과 구성 물질의 특성, 해빈의 형성 과정, 계절적 변화 양상을 분석하였다. 해빈은 북쪽에서 남쪽으로 갈수록 모래의 비율이 높아지고, 자갈의 입경이 작아지며 구형도는 높아진다. 기원지 분석 결과, 해빈 퇴적물은 광천 유역에서 공급된 하성 퇴적물과 주변 암석 해안으로부터 공급된 해성 퇴적물을 모두 포함하며, 특히 해빈 북쪽 파식대에서 공급된 퇴적물의 영향이 상대적으로 컸다. 이러한 결과를 종합하면, 해빈의 형성에 있어서는 남쪽 방향의 해빈 이동이 주로 영향을 미치는 것으로 보인다. 2년간 계절별 해빈의 변화를 측정한 결과, 연간 해빈의 단면적 변화 량은 매우 미미하여 해안은 대체로 안정적인 상태를 유지하고 있다, 그러나 계절별로는 파고가 높은 겨울철과 태풍이 접근한 여름철에 침식이 뚜렷하고, 파고가 낮은 봄, 가을과 태풍의 영향이 없는 여름철에는 퇴적이 우세한 것으로 분석되었다. This study analyzed the characteristics of landscapes and material compositions, geomorphological processes and seasonal changes of mixed gravel-sand beach with dominant pebbles located in Josa-ri, Pohang-si. Going from north to south, area of sand beach becomes wider, grain sizes of gravels become gradually smaller and sphericity of gravels become higher. As a origin analysis result, sediments of beach are composed to fluvial deposits supplied from Gwang-cheon river basin and also marine deposits supplied from near the rocky coast, especially influence of northern rocky coast is relatively high. All the take together suggests that beach drifting to southwards has mainly effect in the formation of beach recently. As a result of measurement of beach change every season for 2 years, coast is almost maintaining stability because of very small variation of beach volume per year. In the season however, there are distinct erosion in winter with high wave and in summer with affected by typhoon. On the other side, there are distinct deposit in spring and autumn with low wave and in summer with uninfluenced by typhoon.
