The fatty acid composition of the oil in the rapeseed grown by spring and autumn planting were determined by gas liquid phase chromatography. Erucic acid content of the rapeseed oil grown by autumn planting was higher than that produced by spring planting, but the contents of oleic acid and linoleic acid were lower in autumn planting than those in spring planting. There was significant difference at 1% level between seasonal plantings. The reasons for the different fatty acid compositions were the low integrated temperature, the high amount of precipitation and the short hours of sunshine during the maturing period in autumn planting.
유채의 지방산조성육종에 관한 연구 4 : 재배장소를 달리하여 재배한 유채유의 지방산조성변화

1. 환경조건을 달리하여 재배한 유채유의 지방산조성은 품종과 지방산의 종류에 따라 다르나 일반적으로 함량이 낮은 지방산에서는 함량차가 적은데 대해서 함량이 높은 Erucic acid에서는 뚜렷한 차가 있었다. 2. 국내의 3개지역에서 재배된 유채품종의 지방산조성은 목포가 제주, 강릉보다 Erucic acid함량이 높으며 Oleic acid와 Linoleic acid함량은 낮았다. 어느 경우나 단쇄지방산과 장쇄지방산과의 사이에는 높은 부의 상관이 있었다. 4. 목포에서 재배된 유채종자가 Erucic acid함량이 높았던 원인은 등숙기간의 적산온도가 낮고 강수량이 많으며 일조시수가 적은데 있으며 이들 환경조건과 Erucic acid함량과의 사이에는 각각 높은 상관관계가 있으며 이같은 경향은 한국과 일본의 지역차에서도 같은 원인과 상관관계가 성립되었다.5. 지방산개량육종은 등숙기간의 온도가 낮고 강수량이 많으며 일조량이 적어서 Erucic acid함량이 높아지기쉬운 지역에서 육종하는 것이 효과적이다 Difference of fatty acid composition of rapeseeds from different regions in Korea and Japan were found. Erucic acid content of the rapeseeds produced in Korea, particulary in Mokpo was higher than that produced in Japan. While, the contents of oleic and linoleic acids produced in Korea were lower than those produced in Japan. It was considered being due to temperature, amount of precipitation and hours of sunshine during the maturing period.

Cytoplasmic male-sterility line was found by Shiga in Japan. We have investigated the degree of heterosis of agronomic characters and ability of fertility restoration of F₁ from the cross between cytoplasmic male-sterilie line and 157 varieties as pollen parents of Korea, Japan and Europe. That result has appeared with highly desirable heterosis, particulary in yielding and most yield component characters except on 1,000 seed weight but plant height was tall and maturing was late. Ability of Fertility restoration of F₁ hybrids from Europe pollen parent varieties was 74% but that of Japanese pollen parent varieties was low as 5%. It seems that high yielding of F₁ from fertility non-restoration varieties may be caused by the polly cross.

Nineteen F₃ lines of non-erucic acid selections from winter × spring crosses, of rape were compared in several agronomic traits. Among the 19 lines tested 3 lines were found to be more productive than check variety Yudal. Maturing time was close to mid-parent but plant height was taller than the tall parent. In yield components, number of branches, number of grains per pod and number of pods per plant was higher than mid-parent but 1,000 grain weight was lower than that of mid-parent.
