스튜디오드래곤의 지속가능한 경쟁우위를 위한 핵심역량 분석

본 연구는 국내 드라마 산업 내 환경의 변화로 인한 드라마 제작사 시장의 동향에 대해 알아보았다. 지상파 방송사가 독점하던 시장 환경 속에서 국내 드라마 제작사 기업인 스튜디오 드래곤이 설립 이후 어떻게 해마다 매출 신장을 보이며 시장의 선도주자로써 역량을 갖추었는지에 대해 조사하는 것에 목적이 있다. CJ ENM이 사업상 시작한 드라마 사업본부부터 이후 물적 분할을 통해 설립된 현재 국내 최대 드라마 제작사인 스튜디오 드래곤을 연구 대상으로 선정하였다. 그리고 자원기반관점에 의하여 기업의 내부역량 분석에 유용한 분석기술인 VRIO Framework를 통해 드라마 제작사의 경영에 있어 중요한 자원과 핵심역량에 대해 분석하였다. 스튜디오 드래곤의 의사결정과 핵심역량을 분석한 결과, CJ ENM은 제작사 인수와 장기적 계약을 통해 희소한 자원인 핵심인력을 보유함으로써 경쟁력을 강화한 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 스튜디오 드래곤이 영입한 작가는 드라마 시장 내에서 다른 기업이 모방할 수 없는 핵심자원이며, 지속적인 경쟁우위를 창출할 수 있는 역량임이 분석되었다. 해당 작가들의 작품은 많은 흥행을 이끌며 기업 성과를 거두는데 긍정적으로 작용했음을 확인하였다. 핵심인력은 드라마 제작사업에 있어 지속적인 경쟁우위를 갖게 함으로써 기업 성과에 큰 영향을 미쳤으나, 작가 역량의 특성에 대해 구체적으로 정의하지 않았다는 한계가 있다. 또한, 핵심인력 이외의 드라마 성과에 미치는 외부 영향을 고려하지 않았다는 점에서 한계가 있다. This qualitative study investigated the drama production company"s market trend due to changes in the environment in the domestic drama industry. The purpose is to examine how Studio Dragon, a domestic drama production company, has shown annual sales growth and has become a market leader in a market environment dominated by terrestrial broadcasters. Studio Dragon, the largest drama production company in Korea, was established through material division after CJ ENM started its business. In addition, we analyzed the critical resources and core competencies of drama production companies through the VRIO Framework, a valuable tool for analyzing an entity"s internal competencies based on a resource-based perspective. As a result of analyzing Studio Dragon"s decision-making and core competencies, it was found that CJ ENM strengthened its competitiveness by retaining core manpower, a scarce resource, through acquisitions of production companies and long-term contracts. In particular, the writer recruited by Studio Dragon was analyzed to be a critical resource that no other company could imitate in the drama market and to create a continuous competitive advantage. The artists" works led to a lot of success and positively contributed to the company"s success. The core workforce had a significant impact on its performance by giving it a continuous competitive advantage in the drama production business. Still, there is a limitation that it has not explicitly defined the characteristics of the writer"s capabilities. In addition, there is a limitation in that it did not take into account the external impact on drama performance other than the core workforce.
