An optimal gear ratio generation program is developed, which calculates the optimal gear ratio automatically in design of the automatic transmission. This program is designed to provide the planetary gear ratio which satisfies the design requirements such as shift range, step ratio, top and bottom gear ratio and rear gear ratio. It is expected that the optimal gear tooth ratio generation program will be used in development of a new automatic transmission.

Electro-wedge brake(EWB) uses the wedge principle which provides the self-reinforcement mechanism and this offers the reduced current of the actuation motor. However, it can also lead to an unstable open-loop system. In this paper, upper wedge moving type EWB is developed and a control algorithm is suggested in order to keep the wedge stable within the push-pull range and to prevent the EWB system from jamming. The EWB performance is evaluated by the dynamometer and simulator. It is found from the test and simulation results that the EWB developed in this study shows satisfactory performance.

Electric oil pump control algorithm for a 6 speed AT based HEV is developed. To evaluate the performance of the EOP control algorithm, a bench tester of AT based 2-shaft parallel HEV is constructed. Using the bench tester, line pressure response is investigated with/without checkball at AT oil pump for various ATF temperature and EOP speed. In addition, performance of the EOP control algorithm is investigated for various ATF temperature and vehicle acceleration. It is found from the experimental results that the EOP control algorithm shows satisfactory performance except the very high temperature and very low acceleration, which requires the modification of the control gains.
