This study aims at developing a loading warehouse robot to supply and discharge an SMD reel automatically in an effort to supplement disadvantages where much time is required for searching and managing parts in the SMT production environment. An SMD reel bank robot supplies multiple reels at once, classified the reel type and size automatically, and loads them to a desired position. It automatically recognizes barcodes on reels with its vision system installed to a reel inserting opening, increases the production efficiency through managing the production history and product stocks, and enables the history management for stocks. In order to develop a reel bank robot, it is necessary to increase the completeness of the developed product with the shortened product development time by verifying its design through the optimal design and analysis for the reel conveyance module gripper.
