        In order to analyse the effect of the fluid viscosity changes on the centrifugal pump, the computer simulation method and the performance correction chart are used. The centrifugal pump is designed using the traditional method, and the 3D computational grid is generated for the impeller and casing. Working fluids are water, high viscous oil and muddy water. The viscosity of muddy water is measured by the unsteady capillary tube viscometer. The pump performances are predicted well through the computer simulation. The performance curves of head and efficiency for oil and muddy water are decreased. The torques of oil and muddy water, which is calculated by performance correction chart are predicted at a lower value than the computer simulation.

        The objective of the study is to improve the infield flow of a Warm up Catalytic Converter (WCC) by baffle-plate. The engine room space of a passenger car is limited because of the configuration of pipe lines and many electronic devices for the engine performance, passenger safety and convenience, then the shape of the wee is also restricted. As inappropriate inlet geometry of the converter is not introduced an uniform flow field of exhaust gas in the wee. These characteristics produce a rapid thermal and physical ageing of the catalyst as local overheating, and reduce the performance of the wee. This study was carried out with comparing an experimental method and a numerical analysis. The experimental method was carried out with measuring temperature distributions using by an integrated radiation camera. The numerical analysis was carried out by the commercial code (SC/Tetra). We proposed a special baffle-plate to improve infield flow in the wee. Without the baffle plate, the experimental and the numerical analysis shown non-uniformity of infield flow of the wee. With battle plate, the uniform flow in the WCC is observed in both measurement and analysis, and CO and HC conversion efficiencies are improved about 9% and about 49% in the ECE-13 mode test respectably.
