본 연구의 목적은 북한이주남성들의 지역사회복지관 이용경험이 어떠한지 질적사례연구방법론을 활용하여 탐색함으로써, 그간 가치 있게 다루어지지 못한 북한이주남성들의 복지관 이용경험이 어떠한지 개인의 경험을 깊이 파악하고 그들의 복지적 욕구가 무엇인지 알아보는데 있다. 연구의 목적 달성을 위해 지역사회복지관 이용경험에 관해 이야기해줄 수 있는 총 5명의 북한이주남성을 연구참여자로 선정하여, 2021년 2월부터 약 3개월간 진행 반구조화된 방식으로 심층면담을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과, 북한이주남성들의 지역사회복지관 이용경험은 3개의 영역과 7개의 하위범주가 도출되었으며, 도출된 3개 영역은 ‘북한에서 경험해보지 못한 복지개념의 인식’, ‘정서적 안정감 획득 및 자아발견’, ‘남한문화의 전반적 이해와 일자리 관련 정보획득’으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 북한이주남성들이 경험한 지역사회복지관 이용경험에 관한 내용과 그 의미를 발굴해내고, 북한이주남성들의 지역사회복지관 이용과 관련하여 실천적 제언을 하였다는 점에서 의미가 있겠다. 이를 통해 연구결과에 대한 논의와 시사점 및 추후 연구의 방향을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to explore the experience of attending community welfare centers for North Korean male defectors by using qualitative case study methodology to understand individual experiences and what their welfare needs are. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a total of five North Korea male defectors who could talk about their experience in attending community welfare centers were selected as research participants, and in-depth interviews were conducted for about three months from February 2021. The study results show that there are three areas and seven subcategories which are derived from the experience of attending community welfare centers for North Korean male defectors. Three areas are “Awareness of welfare concepts not experienced in North Korea,” “Acquisition of emotional stability and self-discovery,” and “General understanding of South Korean culture and job-related information.” This study is meaningful in that it discovers the contents and meanings of North Korea male defectors experiences on local social welfare centers, and provides practical suggestions regarding the use of local social welfare centers. Last, it presents discussions, implications of the study, and direction for future research.
