Since the year of 2000, interest in creative economy and creative industries has increased in an effort to find new growth engine in Britain and the United States. The central and local governments in Korea also show a lot of concerns about economic growth through those policies. But, the study of creative industries concentrating in the area with certain characteristics lacked despite the importance of geographic concentration such asagglomeration. Under this background, this study raised an inquiry of ‘Does the creative industries that create high added value in the region are concentrated in areas with certain characteristics?’ In comparison to previous focus on ‘geographic concentration of talent(bachelor’s degree)’, this study paid attention to the ‘business characteristics(transaction cost)’ to explain ‘agglomeration of creative industries’. Based on this, it selected the 99 local governments in Seoul, Gyeonggi and 6 metropolitan cities, where talent and transaction cost are analyzed assuming that it related with the geographic concentration of creative industries. The findings show that the creative industries were concentrated in the area with the characteristics of lower level of monopoly and higher level of small scale company rate. Furthermore, the business with high E-commerce sales also prefer city center as well as outlying areas. The talent, diversity(foreign born), and young population still had a significant impact on the creative industries, but we should not neglect the characteristics of Korea. The results suggest that transaction cost theory to explain the integration of small businesses as an alternative to the hierarchical structure is still important in the creative industries. It also pointed out that the study on creative industries should take into accountthe geographical concentration for the drive of economic growth.
