BaSO₄와 CaCO₃가 자동차용 Brake Pad의 마찰 특성에 미치는 영향 연구

The purpose of this study is to investigate the firction characterisctcs of brake pads according to different ratios of BaSO₄/CaCO₃. Four brake pads with different ratios of BaSO₄/CaCO₃ were manufactured. The friction characteristics of brake pads were tested using 1/5 reduced scale tester. With increasing of the amount of BaSO₄ density and shear strength of brake pads were increased and hardness of brake pads were decreased. In effectiveness, the fricton coefficient of brake pad was higher and the stability of firction coefficient was better as the ratio of BaSO₄ increased. In fade test, friction coefficient of B3 sample used only CaCO₃ was decreased rapidly. B1 sample showed a good noise performance without noise generation. The wear resistance of samples were decreased with increasing of the ratio of CaCO₃.

The function of brake system is to reduce vehicle speed or to stop a vehicle by the friction of brake pad and disc rotor. Generally, brake noise has three categories, low frequency noise, low frequency squeal and high frequency squeal. Brake noise during braking continues to be one of the important quality problems. Many researches have been carried out on the brake noise that occurs during braking. The purpose of this study is to review various factors occuring brake noise by experimental case studies.
Disc Rotor의 Graphite 길이가 마찰 특성에 미치는 영향 연구

The purpose of this study is to investigate the friction characteristics of brake pads according to different graphite flake lengths of disc rotors. The friction characteristics of brake pads were tested using 1/5 reduced scale tester. With increasing of the graphite length of the disc strength and hardness of the disc rotors decreased, and thermal conductivity of the disc brake pads increased. Natural frequencies moved lower frequencies and damping ratio of the disc rotor increased. In P1 brake pad, the friction coefficient was lower as increasing the graphite length of the disc but the noise propensity was not related with the graphite length. In P2 brake pad, the friction coefficient was higher and the noise propensity was lower with increasing of the graphite length.

Friction characteristics of a low-steel friction material were examined to investigate creep groan phenomena. The amount of three ingredients (steel fiber, ZrSiO₄, cashew) were changed to produce test specimens using a constrained mixture design. Tribological properties of the friction material specimens were obtained by using a 1/5 scale dynamometer. Results showed that the amount of three different ingredients strongly affected the level of friction coefficient and the difference between the static friction coefficient and the kinetic friction coefficient (?μ). ZrSiO4 and steel fiber tended to increase the average friction coefficient and aggravated the stick-slip phenomena suggesting high creep groan propensity. On the other hand, cashew tended to decrease average friction coefficient and ?μ.

Tribological properties of the friction material specimens were obtained by using a 1/5 scale dynamometer. Results showed that the amount of different ingredients strongly affected the level of friction coefficient and the difference between the static friction coefficient and the kinetic friction coefficient (Δμ). ZrSiO₄, steel fiber and cokes tended to increase the average friction coefficient and aggravated the stick-slip phenomena that determinded creep groan propensity. Cashew and natural graphite tended to decrease average friction coefficient and Δμ. The change of the friction characteristics according to the ingredients suggested that the formation of the friction film on the brake pad was strongly affected the brake performance of the friction materials.
