Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate current quality indicators managed at the health organizations of Korea and abroad and suggest quality indicators which are needed to be managed in the military hospital through validity survey and risk analysis. Methods: Document review was done to investigate current quality indicators and we visited one civilian hospital to get information. 118 quality indicators were selected through researchers' discussion and 51 quality indicators were selected as valid ones through validity survey by military hospital workers who has experience in the QPS field. We did risk analysis using the ACHS (Australian Council on Healthcare standards)'s tool to set the priority of each quality indicator. Results: 118 quality indicators were selected by researchers's discussion and 51 quality indicators were selected through validity survey. The prioritize was done through the ACHS (Australian Council on Healthcare standards)'s risk analysis tool and the average risk score was 3.2. Patient safety accident related medication, check patient's identification, Time Out, Sentinel patient safety accident, patient accident related to fall down, major medication patient safety accident needed intervention(L3 ~L4), hands hygiene were ranked high priority quality indicators. Conclusions: 51 quality indicators among 118 were identified to be needed to manage in the military hospital and the average risk score was 3.2(±0.33). Patient safety accident related medication, check patient's identification, Time Out, Sentinel patient safety accident, patient accident related to fall down, major medication patient safety accident needed intervention(L3 ~L4), hands hygiene were ranked nigh priority quality indicators. This is the first research using validity survey and ACHS's risk analysis to develop the quality indicators in the military. This process can be used to find more quality indicators and do further research to develop quality indicators related to patient centered experience.
