중년후기 성인의 기본심리욕구가 성공적 노화에 미치는 영향: 사회적 지지로 조절된 우울의 매개효과

본 연구는 중년후기 성인의 기본심리욕구가 우울을 매개로 한 성공적 노화에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 그 과정에서 사회적 지지가 조절효과를 보이는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 50세에서 64세의 중년후기 성인 393명을 대상으로 기본심리욕구 만족 좌절, 우울, 사회적 지지, 성공적 노화에 대해 자기보고식 척도를 사용하여 측정하고, SPSS 21.0과 PROCESS macro를 이용하여 가설을 검증하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중년후기 성인의 기본심리욕구 만족과 우울의 상관이 부적으로 유의하였고, 우울과 성공적 노화의 상관이 부적으로 유의하였으며 기본심리욕구 만족과 성공적 노화와의 상관도 정적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째로, 매개는 기본심리욕구 좌절이 우울에 미치는 직접효과가 정적으로 유의하였고, 우울이 성공적 노화에 미치는 직접효과는 부적으로 유의하였으며, 기본심리욕구 좌절이 성공적 노화에 미치는 직접효과도 부적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 기본심리욕구 만족이 우울에 미치는 영향에서 사회적 지지가 조절하지 않는 반면, 기본심리욕구 좌절이 우울에 미치는 영향에서 사회적 지지의 조절효과가 유효한 것으로 확인되었다. 마지막으로 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 의의와 한계점에 대해 논의하였다. This study examined the relationship between psychological needs, depression, social support, and successful aging in late middle-aged adults (aged 50-64). A survey of 393 participants was conducted online, and data analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 and Hayes' PROCESS macro. The results showed that higher satisfaction of psychological needs was associated with lower levels of depression and positively correlated with successful aging. Frustration of psychological needs directly contributed to depression and negatively affected successful aging. Social support moderated the relationship between frustration of needs and depression. The study discusses implications and limitations of the findings.

The low childbirth rate is a complex issue that causes many social and economic symptoms. Consequently, just a single proposal is not enough to cover policies to cope with low childbirth. It is emphasized that these policies should be approached from the point of view of children welfare, women welfare, and the family welfare. Enactment of the ‘Basic Law of Health Family’(2005) and establishment of ‘the First Basic Plan for Health Family (2006-2010)’ reflect well such points.<BR> Korean government establishes family policies that support women, family welfare and support for childbirth as a social responsibility. It is especially important that these policies target stable and supportive environments for raising children. This needs to be made from the long-term point of view rather than enticement policy for direct childbirth increases, focusing on social responsibility in raising children. It is also important that these policies include a policy for “the reexamination of work methods including men” with regards to support policy for both child-raising and working conditions. Specific policy objectives include: alleviation of economic burden of raising children, establishment of a family-friendly labor policies that enables equality with guarantees for continuity in economic activities of women, and expansion of equal responsibilities for raising children in both men and women.
