We measured an anisotropy inhomogeniety and dispersion of rf sputterd permalloy thin films by TBP (Transverse Biased Permeability) measurement method. Angular distribution function had a shape similar to the Lorentzian distribution, but magnitude distribution function deviates from the sysmetric Lorentzian distribution because of a long tail to the region of a high Hk value. With increasing film thickness, the angular and magnitude anisotropy dispersion increased. The increase of angular dispersion was due to both the increase of grain size and local ansiotropy in thicker films.
Permalloy 다층화와 CoZrNb 중간층이 CoCr / NiFe 매체의 기록특성에 미치는 영향

The read / write characteristics of CoCr / NiFe double layered media are strongly affected by the magnetic properties of NiFe magnetic soft layer as well as those of CoCr recording layer. Modification of the permalloy layer by NiFe / Ge multilayer scheme resulted in the higher recording sensitivity and the higher reproduced voltage of CoCr / NiFe medium and this is attributed to the higher permeability of the back layer and high perpendicular anisotropy of the CoCr recording layer. Although higher permeability of back layer results in higher recording sensitivity, the increment of the reproduced voltage was not remarkable, which can be confirmed in the FEM numerical analysis. On the contrary, peak shift characteristics of the CoCr / NiFe medium with the NiFe multi back layer was deteriorated compared to that of the CoCr / NiFe medium with NiFe single back layer. Insertion of ferromagnetic thin CoZrNb intermediate layer between CoCr and NiFe layer was effective to ensure large reproduced voltage and low peak shift. These recoridng characteristics were also discussed in connection with microstructural characteristics.
Magnetic Properties of Co-P and Co-P-Cr Thin Films for Longitudinal Magnetic Recording

In order to develop new magnetic media with higher coercivity, we have investigated the magnetic properties of Co-P/Cr and Co-P-Cr/Cr films. The coercivity of Co-P binary films deposited at RT was around 835 Oe in the range of 9-12 at. % P. In the Co-P binary system coercivity decreased with increasing substrate temperature for P contents of 9-12 at.%, which may be due to the decomposition of Co-P single phase to Co and Co₂P phase. However, the coercivity of the films containing more than 12 at. % P is very low due to the formation of amorphous phase. The coercivity of Co-P-Cr ternary films increased with increasing Cr contents and reached the maximum value of 1020 Oe in the water cooled C0_(84)P_(10)Cr_6 film.

1000 Å thick Fe films were epitaxially grown on MgO(001) by an rf sputtering and effects of substrate temperature on the structural and magnetic properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction intensity increased with increasing substrate temperature and inter-planar spacing d_((002)) decrease with increasing the temperature up to 250 ℃. The increased intensity and decreased inter-planar spacing were thought to be attributed to the enhancement of lattice match between Fe films and MgO, thus yielding good epitaxial growth. By using torque magnetometer, VSM and pole figure, very nice epitaxial growth of sputterd Fe films on MgO could be confirmed and K₁ value of Fe films grown at 250 ℃ was 4.6×10^5 erg/cc, which was very similar to that of bulk single Fe crystal.

Variations of core loss and coercivity with heat treatment condition have been studied in amorphous ribbon core specimens. All measurements were performed at 10 ㎑ with a maximum induction of 0.1 T. With increasing annealing time, both core loss and coercivity of core specimens decreased first, reaching minimum values, and increased thereafter. Specimen heat treated in an air showed better soft magnetic properties than those treated in Ar atmosphere. The specimens annealed under magnetic field higher than 6 Oe in radial direction showed reduced core loss and coercivity. The field annealing effects were increased with increasing cooling rate near Curie temperature of the material. The specimen annealed under an applied field in perpendicular direction of the core showed increased coercivity and decreased permeability.

Recently patented rights affect the competitive power of each country. Specially the situation of that country will be superiority if one country has lots of basic invention patents in advanced technology. In the near future, research results in universities or research institutes should be involved with patent application so that the investment of research funds improves our technology. Alloy is used to adjust magnetic characteristic in invention for magnetic recording medium. In this case there must be cautious in make out the patent claims of invention about such alloys. The patent for alloy invention is considered with following standard. (1) composition range and structure aspect according to the need of a composition metal (2)characteristics of the alloy and/or use.

In this paper, the experiment results of the Boost converter for PFC(power factor correction)are presented The performance of the 1kW class PFC rectifier with the average current mode control are evaluated. A 1kW, 100kHz System prototype was built and experimental results are presented to verify the design. As a results, power conversion efficiency above 95% and power factor above 99% were obtained.
