        Purpose: As the focus is laid on the cultivation of experts with the practical capabilities on the spots of education recently, the vocational key competencies necessary in common for all types of jobs are researched and suggested. The purpose of this study consists in the research of differences in the recognition of importance in regard of the key vocational competencies between the speech-language pathologists serving in industrial fields and the university students. Methods: This study was carried out with 60 persons of speech-language pathologists and 60 persons of university students as the subjects. The questionnaire asking the recognition of importance in regard of the key vocational competencies was prepared and utilized for the investigation and research. Results: As a result of the study, first, both the speech-language pathologists and the university students recognized the communication capability, self-development capability and interpersonal relationship capability to be important while the problem solving capability was recognized as important by the speech-language pathologists. Second, the university students laid more importance on the basic statistics skills, chart analysis skills, chart preparation skills, leadership skills and the skills for utilization of computers, as part of the lower level capabilities of the key vocational competencies, in their recognition than the speech-language pathologists. Conclusions: As a result of the study, it was revealed that there is a difference in the recognition of importance for vocational key competencies depending on the existence or otherwise of the experience of speech-language therapy. Therefore, it could be learned that the practical education incorporating the recognition and requirements from the industrial personnel practices is necessary in the curriculum of the universities.
