This study presents a development of the cleaning system in a nuclear power plant condenser. The tube cleaning system is very important equipment in a power plant condenser. Specially, removal of the fouling is a key process in the condenser tube. The objective of this study is development of a ball collector system for cleaning a condenser by using a sponge ball. This study uses CFD in order to optimize design of the ball strainer screen. Through the CFD, the implication of the ball strainer screen for static pressure distribution is examined. Results of research, this study have developed a 1/5 scale model for application to the power plant and developed a performance test equipment.

This study concerns the distributions of flow in an air conditioning duct used for a marine and oil drilling ship. From the results of carrying out flow analysis and structural analysis of a ventilation duct applied to a marine structure, the following conclusion could be gained. The pressure tended to increase as the flow velocity at the inlet increased and the pressure at the inlet increased. It was recognized that the pressure decreased due to the influence of a corrugated tube when it entered and exited from the duct. As a result of structural analysis, a higher train was generated at the corrugated tube compared with the duct. In addition, in the case of the internal pressure of 0.7MPa, which was the designed load, it was found that there was almost no influence as it was within 0.1mm.

In this study, the experiment result and numerical analysis on temperature distribution of a secondary battery module for high temperature operation type were compared. Because experimental battery has been in danger of explosions, experiment on temperature distribution was carried out using dummy batteries. Study on NAS battery module, which is secondary battery of high temperature operation type, is as follows ; Test result showed that battery"s temperature is in steady state uniformly after 8 hours in each section. It is similar to experimental result for temperature distribution from the result of numerical analysis, and it takes about 8.5 hours to the 300°C.

This study is about distributions of flow in a ventilation system used in a louver for marine. In this study, to describe the flow in the ventilation opening louver, 3-dimensional steady-state turbulence was assumed to govern the equation. The flow field with pressure distribution according to the inlet velocity at the louver types is also compared. Flow analysis was performed for the louver numerical analysis on two types. The numerical analysis results in the louver blade indicated increased flow resistance at type-1.

Dust collecting performance of axial-vane type cyclone for oil mist was analyzed in this study. For predicting cut diameter size of cyclone, the number and angle of vane (tan β₂´) was simulated by CFD. As the result, tan β₂´ was decreased as the number of vane was increased and the angle of inclination( β₂´) decreased, and it cause strong swirl flow. Therefore, it could be confirmed that as the number of vane was increased and the angle of inclination was decreased, cut diameter size was decreased. Also, by verifying the results of CFD through experiment, the cut diameter size could be 2㎛ at 4㎥/min of flow rate.

This study is about comparison of tangental entry type cyclone dust collector with axial vane type cyclone dust collector. Cut diameter and dust collection efficiency of both collector was compared by theory and experiment. Cut diameter was calculated by an quasi-empirical formula by Lapple and Shepherd. Measurement of cut diameter was conducted by particle counter through dust generator. As the result, cut diameter obtained by experiment was a little larger than that by theory. But the error is within 0.5㎛ in both type of collector, so it could be confirmed that theoretical value and experimental value were almost identical. And, as flow rate increased, dust collection efficiency was increased. Also axial vane type showed higher dust collection efficiency than tangental entry type. Therefore, it can be said that axial vane type cyclone dust collector has higher performance than the other.

This study regards distributions of flow in the ventilation system used in the kitchen hood in a ship. In this study, for describing the flow in the ventilation system, three-dimensional steady-state turbulence was assumed for the governing equation. When the plume was formed, three gases, CO, CO2, and HCL, in the flow field of the hood were considered as the plume, and it was assumed that the sum of concentrations of the gases was 100%. As a result, it could be confirmed that the plume was smoothly discharged when the flow rate of the supply was ten times lower than that of the exhaust.
