Aluminum honeycomb panels have excellent specific strength and impact energy absorption property and thus have a great potential as light-weight structural materials. In this study, aluminum honeycomb panels were fabricated from 5052 aluminum alloy core and face sheets using adhesive films. The mechanical properties of these panels were<br/> characterized using compressive and tensile tests.<br/> The compressive<br/> <br/> strengths were found to be 4.91 I\1Pa and 2.51 I\1Pa for the panels with the cell sizes of 1/8 inch and 3/16 inch, respectively. The excellent energy absorption property of the honeycomb panel was caused by<br/> repetitive buckling of the core and the cushion strength was found to be 43% - 50% of the maximum compressive strength. The bond strength between the core and face sheets was determined from the tensile tests and found to be about 170 I\1Pa regardless of the cell size.<br/>
