본 연구의 주요 목적은 인터넷의 중독적 사용 경향에 관한 원인과 결과변인을 타당화 하는데 있다. 총 885명의 고등학생이 본 연구를 위한 설문에 응답하였다. 인터넷의 중독적 사용과 자기통제력, 사회적 불편감, 문제행동, 부모와의 관계, 학업성적, 충동성, 하루 인터넷 사용시간, 인터넷 접근용이성에 해당하는 8개의 다른 변인들 간의 상관관계 분석 결과, 인터넷 중독과 가장 관련이 깊은 변인은 하루 평균 인터넷 사용시간과 문제행동으로 나타났다. 충동성, 사회적인 불편감, 부모와의 부정적인 관계는 인터넷의 중독적 사용과 정적관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 자기통제력과 인터넷의 중독적 사용간의 관계에 대한 분석결과에서는 자기 통제력이 높을수록 인터넷의 중독적 사용 정도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 인터넷 중독 경향과 그것의 선행변수들과의 관계에 대한 다중회귀 분석 결과, 인터넷 중독경향은 3가지 개인차 요인들(자기 조절, 충동성, 사회적 불편감)에서 직접적으로 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 추가로, 온라인 게임 사이트의 인터넷 사용은 인터넷 중독과 친밀하게 관련된 요인인 것으로 나타났다. The main objective of this study is to verify causal relationship between the antecedents and consequences of internet addiction tendency. In total, 885 high school students participated in the survey. By sex, male students were 453, female students were 432. The results were as follows.<br/> First, in the results of correlation analysis between internet addiction tendency and its related factors, adolescents' the time of internet using, problem behaviors, impulsivity, and social discomfort factor showed positive significant correlation with the level of internet addiction tendency. While, adolescents' self-control, academic achievement and the degrees of satisfaction of interpersonal relationship with their parents showed negative significant correlation with the internet addiction tendency.<br/> Second, to identify the relationship between internet addiction tendency and its antecedents the multiple repression analysis was performed. The results showed that internet addiction tendency was directly affected by three individual difference factors(self-control, impulsivity, and social discomfort).<br/> At last, the implications and limitations of these findings were discussed, and the future research directions were also proposed.
