        The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between passenger travel demand and land use in Seoul. In particular, we attempt to examine the impacts of the structural changes in the socio-economic environment in Seoul since IMF at the end 1990’s on the passenger flow patterns. In order to examine the dynamic interrelationships between the passengers at the subway station and thirty six land use variables, we develop twelve models with various combinations of three years(2000, 2003, 2006) and four different data units. By applying multivariate regression analysis, we obtain twelve log-linear regression functions. In order to develop better regression model which explain more the passenger flows, we check the determinant coefficient R² and selected explanation variables at each model. In general, models using Gu as the regional unit for the land use variables give better explanation for the subway passenger demand. We examine also the changes in the satial distribution patterns of passenger flows and land use variables selected commonly in the models as the major passenger travel generators. Significant changes are detected both in the passenger flows and in the land sue patterns during this period. In particular, major central functions which are related with travel demand generation show the big increase in the Gangnam CBD area same as passenger travel demand, while they have decreased in the old CBD in the Gangbuk.
