This paper is devoted to a detailed exposition of every historical period in which universities in China have established professional Korean language, and comes to the conclusion that the springing up of Korean teaching and learning can be mainly attributed to the drastic increase of trade between China and South Korea since the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries. This study further anatomizes other issues concerning Korean language education nowadays, such as lack of teaching staff, orientation of talent cultivation, design of curricula due to the dramatic expansion of Korean major, then expounds future challenges confronted by Korean language education and finally attempts to propose a workable solution in the hope that it will benefit Korean language education in China.
