Emission regulations are becoming stringent more and more during the past few years. Almost suppliers and automotive companies have been developed aftertreatment system actively. During development processes, simulations are applied in many cases. To apply simulation for development process of aftertreatment system effectely, numerical method is so important, because various chemical reactions are in catalyst simulation. This study shows useful functions of simulation in aftertreatment system development. HC-storage, urea-injection of SCR system, pressure drop of various geometry of DPF cell and whole aftertreatment system considered heat loss from pipe which functions are new technologies of aftertreament simulation are studied using AVL BOOST(1D) and FIRE(3D) s/w. From this study, we investigated numerical method by validating with measured data.. Results of this study let us know effect of aftertreatment simulation to development.
