과학 : 혼합층 계절 변화에 대한 중등 예비 과학교사의 대안개념

이 연구는 혼합층의 계절 변화에 대해 중등 예비 과학교사들이 지니고 있는 대한개념을 조사하고 대표적 대안개념의 형성 원인인 교과서를 분석하였다. 연구 대상은 전라북도 소재 국립 대학교에 재학 중인 1~4학년 중등 예비 과학교사 63명과 2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 고등학교 지구과학 교과서이다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대부분의 예비 과학교사들은 혼합층의 계절 변화를 설명하는데 있어 의한 역학적 혼합효과는 정확히 알고 있었지만, 혈적 대류 효과에 대해서는 비과학적 개념을 가지고 있었다. 둘째, 대안개념이 형성된 주된 원인은 고등학교 교과서임을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 혼합층의 계절 변화에 대한 학습 후에도 열적 대류 효과에 대한 대안개념을 가지고 있었다. 즉, 한번 형성된 한번 형성된 대안개념이 쉽게 바뀌지 않음을 확인했다. 그러므로 올바르지 않은 대안개념 형성을 미리 방지하기 위하여 교과서의 이해를 돕는 설명이 부족한 문제점을 극복하여야 할 것이다. 이를 위하여 교과서의 주요 개념에 대한 설명을 보충하거나 교사의 적절한 설명이 가미되어야 할 것이다. The purpose of this study was to investigate alternative conceptions of secondary pre-service science teachers on the seasonal variation of the ocean mixed layer, and then analyze Earth science textbooks as an origin of alternative conceptions. The subjects for this study are 63 secondary pre-service science teachers in their 1st to 4th years of national university in the province of Jeollabuk-do, and Earth science textbooks under the 2009 revised national curriculum. Analysis results can be described as follows. First, while pre-service science teachers relatively easily explained wind driven mixing effect, they are likely to confused to thermal convection effect. Second, this study suggests that the representative causes of alternative conceptions was identified as a result from high school texbooks. Third, after learning about the concept of seasonal variation of the ocean mixed layer, this study found that students ended up having alternative conceptions relating to thermal convection effect. This study suggests that descriptions should be revised in the current Earth science textbooks, and applies to teach the concepts in secondary school Earth science course.
