Eight rice genetic stocks with characters of waxiness, chromogen, dripping wet, ligulelessness, laziness, brittle culm, glabrousness, and long hairiness on leaf surface, were crossed to a rice line IR1905-81-3-1, which was normal for these morphological or physiological characters. The eight genetic stocks were susceptible to Pyricularia oryzae races IB-47 (isolate P06-6), IH-1 (isolate 43), and II-1 (isolate 43-1), while IR1905-81-3-1 was resistant to these races. Inheritance of resistance to blast and linkage relationships between blast resistance and the characters were studied in the F₂ populations. The resistance of the rice cultivar IR1905-81-3-1 to blast fungus races IB-47 and II-1 was controlled by one dominant gene each, and the resistance to race IH-1 by two dominant genes. No linkage relationships were found between the resistance of IR1905-81-3-1 to race IB-47 and the characters waxiness, chromogen, dripping-wet (lack of wax on leaf surface), ligulelessness, laziness, brittle culm (lack of α-cellulose in cell wall), glabrousness, and long hairiness on leaf surface. There were no linkages between the resistance to race IH-1 and waxiness, chromogen, ligulelessness, brittle culm. and glaborusness, and between the resistance to race II-1 and chromogen, dripping-wet, and brittle culm. However, loose linkage relationship was found between the resistance of IR1905-81-3-1 to the blast race IH-1 and laziness.
Inheritance of blast resistance in certain semi-dwarf rice breeding lines
Mun Hue Heu(許文會),Hak Soo Suh(徐學洙),에푸 엘 누쿠(F.L. Nuque) 한국육종학회 1988 한국육종학회지 Vol.20 No.1
The blast resistant semi-dwarf rice breeding lines IR1905-81-3-1, IR9669-PP8361-1, IR5533-PP854-1 and IR3273-289-2-1473 were crossed to a susceptible cultivar 55061. The four resistant parents were crossed diallelly for testing allelism relations of resistance to blast. The F₂ populations of the above crosses and two hundred F₃ lines of the cross 55061/IR1905-81-3-1 were screened against the races of Pyricularia oryzae IA-61, IB-47, IC-27, IH-1 and II-1. The blast resistant rice line IR1905-81-3-1 appeared to convey three dominant resistance genes, and IR9669-PP836-1, IR5533-PP8541 and IR3273-289-21473 to carry two or more dominant resistance genes respectively. The four resistant lines tested were proved to carry at least one common resistance gene.
Inheritance of blast resistance in three Indica rice cultivars
Hak Soo Suh(徐學洙),Mun Hue Heu(許文會),에푸 엘 누쿠(F.L. Nuque) 한국육종학회 1988 한국육종학회지 Vol.20 No.1
Three Indica rice cultivars Tetep, Ta-Poo-Cho-Z and Pankhari 203, which were resistant to the blast fungus Pyricularia oryzae, were crossed to a susceptible Korean rice cultivar Tongil. The resistant Indica rice cultivars were crossed each other for allelism test. The F₂s were screened against four races IA-61, IB-47, IC-27 and IH-1. Inheritance pattern, relationships between reactions to different races in the same F₂ plants, and allelism relationships were studied. The rice cultivar Tetep was found to convey three dominant resistance genes, Ta-Poo-Cho-Z one dominant and one recessive resistance genes, and Pankhari 203 one dominant resistance gene against those fungus races tested. The resistance gene of Pankhari 203 was common to one of the three resistance genes of Tetep. Thus, five reistance genes to blast fungus were found; three dominant genes from Tetep, one dominant and one recessive genes from Ta-Poo-Cho-Z.
