Fabric Type Electrochromic Device Containing ZnO in Transparent Electrode

An electrochromic device (ECD) exhibits a reversible color change on applying voltage by electrochemical redox reactions. Most ECDs have been fabricated using indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass as an electrode, which finds applications in smart windows, rearview mirrors, and camouflage. Due to the growing interest in wearable devices, the demand for textile ECDs has been increased rapidly. In this study, we manufacture a fabric-type ECD using polyester taffeta as a substrate. The electrode was prepared by spray coating the mixture of AgNW and PEDOT:PSS in the presence of ZnO. Viologen-functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane derivatives are used in the electrochromic layer. The electrochemical and morphological properties of the prepared fabric-type ECDs are investigated using cyclic voltammetry and scanning electric microscopy measurements. Besides, we attempt to broaden the limited application field by combining the fabric-type ECD with the battery applications.

Based on the case study carried out focusing on University A, the validity of technology evaluation for technology transfer has been analyzed. In order to analyze the validity of technology evaluation for technology transfer, four hypotheses related to the correlation between technology transfer evaluation and technology transfer outcomes are set, and technology statistics, correlation analysis, factor analysis, regression analysis are established. The independent variable is the total score of the technical evaluation items and the score of the technical evaluation index, and the dependent variable is set to the presence or absence of technology transfer and the scale of technical fee revenue. As a result of the analysis, the technical evaluation total score was not related to the presence or absence of technology transfer, but was related to the technology fee. It was analyzed that “market structure” is a measure of technology transfer for each technology evaluation item, and “marketing” was analyzed to be useful for calculating technology fees. While the technology transfer rate by technology evaluation is high, the technology transfer rate of rank A evaluation technology is far below the predicted value of the linear trend line. University A, technical evaluation had a high degree of confidence in the consistency of evaluation, but the similarity by technical evaluation item was very high, and the discrimination power by technical evaluation item was very low. The results of this study can be used to design highly reliable technical evaluation items to improve the results of technology transfer at universities, and we expect that the results will be useful for technology transfer policies of university-industry cooperation organizations.

Electrochromism represents a reversible spectral or optical change owing to the redox reaction on applying potential biases. Here, we present the enhanced electrochromic properties by incorporating nanofiber webs prepared by electrospinning. The electrochromic devices (ECDs) were fabricated by sandwiching the ion gel nanowebs, made up of viologen and electrolyte, between two ITO glasses. The morphology of the nanofibers was examined using a scanning electron microscope. More ionic liquid could be present between randomly arranged nanofibers, resulting in increased ionic mobility. The fabricated ECDs exhibited significantly enhanced electrochromic performances with short switching speeds, high coloration efficiency, and long-term cyclic stability. Current results demonstrate that electrospinning is a practical approach for high-performance electrochromic devices.
