Energy saving of hydraulic excavator is very important. Regeneration of potential energy is an effective solution to save energy in hydraulic excavator. This paper proposes a new hydraulic circuit for the boom system of a hydraulic excavator. The hydraulic motor and generator are used in this system for energy regeneration. To decrease energy consumption, a proportional flow control valve is used in the energy regeneration part. The control strategy is proposed to improve the energy saving efficiency and control performance of the system. Finally, a test bench was built and tested. The system was able to regenerate energy at a wide range of velocities and the performance of system was improved.
Research on Energy Saving for Hydraulic Excavator Swing System

A new energy saving swing system is proposed in this paper. The hydraulic accumulator is used in the system as the energy storage unit. The kinetic energy of the swing part can be regenerated and stored in the hydraulic accumulator. The stored energy can be reused in the next cycle. Finally, the total energy consumption is reduced. The experiment result shows that the energy saving efficiency is 9%.

In modern society, energy saving issues of industrial vehicles are very important for both economically and environmentally. Energy savings using the potential energy of forklifts must be one of the very good solutions. The basic concept is to run the generator using the flow rate discharged from the cylinder when the fork down while carrying a heavy object, and recharge the battery. This study aims to control the flow rate through the use of variable motor to achieve higher energy savings. Using AMEsim, compare the model with the fixed motor and the model with the variable motor and analyze it through the efficiency map to suggest a strategy with better energy efficiency.
