국민국가의 성립 속에 국민 통합의 가시적인 매개체라고 할 수 있는 <지도>의 이미지에 대해 일본 근대문인들의 인식을 다뤄 보았다. 국민국가로서의 성스러운 신화를 작위적으로 가다듬고 인식시키며 그 확립을 위해 영토의 고유성과 확장성을 안기는 주요 매체가 바로 지도이다. 본고에서는 국민국가의 형성과 함께 일본 근대문학의 지면을 새롭게 장식한 <지도>에 초점을 맞춰 요사노 뎃캉(與謝野鐵幹, 1873~1935), 이즈미 교카(泉鏡花, 1873~1939), 마사오카 시키(正岡子規, 1867~1902), 이시카와 다쿠보쿠(石川啄木, 1886~1912)와 다케히사 유메지(竹久夢二, 1884~1934) 등, 주요 근대 문인들이 이를 어떻게 그리고 있었는지를 들어 살펴보았다. 근대의 문면을 장식한 <지도>에 내포되어 있는 경계에 의한 일체감의 고취 등이 어떻게 문학에 투영되고 또 어떻게 부정되었는가를 통해 일본 근대문학의 한 특성을 엿볼 수 있을 것이다. 국민국가 형성에서 지도가 한 영토 안에서 함께 영위한다는 국가에 대한 관념과 운명 공동체로서의 의식을 고취시키며 하나로 통합해가는 강력한 매개체임을 생각해 볼 때, 당연히 국가주의 성향을 띠는 것은 부정할 수 없다. <지도>의 문학적 형상화는 일본 근대문학 속에서 국가주의적 성향의 작가와 한편으로는 현대적인 평가이기는 하지만 국경을 넘어 미래를 지향하는 탈 경계적 요소를 지닌 작가로 구분하는 기제로도 작용할 수 있다. 국민국가 형성 속의 문학적 <지도>는 국민통합을 넘은 우월성의 신화를 주입시키는 욕망의 매개체였으며 국가와 문학자를 합일시키는 탐욕의 유혹체였다. 한편, 다쿠보쿠와 유메지가 그렸던 <지도>는 한국 병탄을 강하게 비판하고 있는데, 국가와 국민을 넘어서는 그들의 탈 경계적 사유의 일면을 음미할 수 있다. 아울러 여기에서 근대문학의 정수라고도 말할 수 있는 `반 근대정신`의 실체를 실감할 수 있을 것이다. In this paper, we have dealt with the recognition of major literary people in modern Japan about the image of < map > which can be said as a concrete medium of national integration in the formation of the nation state. The medium which gives the identity and extensibility of the territory for recognition and establishment of sacred myth as a nation state is exactly a map. In this paper, along with the formation of the nation state of Japan, the main modern literatians in Japan such as Yosano Tekkan, Izumi Kyouka, Masaoka Shiki, Ishikawa Takuboku, Takehisa Yumeji, etc, focusing on the “map” decorating the page of modern literature I tried to find out how it recognized. In the formation of the nation-state, < map > was a powerful medium that enhances consciousness as a national idea and destiny community, to live together in the same territory, and to integrate them one by one. In the modern Japanese literature, from the literary figuration of the map, it is possible to distinguish writers with a nationalistic tendency and artists with a future-oriented demarcation element beyond the country. < Map > in modern literature is a medium of desire to help myth of superiority beyond national integration, it was also a greedy seductive thing to match literature with the state. Meanwhile, < map > drawn by Takubo and Yumeji strongly criticizes the Korean merger. So, we can see one aspect of the idea of crossing the boundary. From the image of the map drawn by two people, we will be able to realize the substance of anti - modern spirit that can be said as a refinement of modern literature.
