To elucidate antidiabetic activity of Lycii Fructus. The extract of the Lycii Fructus was subjected to bioactivity-guided fractionation. The extract of the Lycii Fructus was partitioned suceesively with hexane, dichloromethane, ethylacetate and butanol. The butanol fraction, which is most abundant in the Lycii Fructus was subjected to silica gel column chromatography and resulted in seven fractions namely Fr. I - Fr. VII. Among tested several subfractions, Fr IV. Showed the highest antidiabetic activity in the streptozotocin-induced model rat.

Chrysin 7-0-crotonate was synthesized by condensing crotonic acid with chrysin in organic solvent, tetrahydrofuran (THF) using dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) and 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP). Its structure was identified by NMR, MS, UV, IR etc. We also investigated the physico-chemical properties and set up the quantitative analytical method of this compound. The correlation coefficient of calibration curve measured at the isobestic point (340nm) on this compound was approximately 0.9994 by absorption spectrophotometry. Detection limit was 1.6ng at S/N=3 by using a RP column by HPLC. The hair growth effect of chrysin 7-0-crotonate on the hair of black mouse (C57BL/6), was carried out using paste method. When its ethanol solution was administered to this black mouse by route of skin, this compound promoted the growth of hair.

We have synthesized acetylsalicylic acid derivative of eugenol. And also, physico-chemical properties and analysis on this compound were examined. The correlation coefficient of the calibration curve in methanol solution was 0.9998. The hair growth stimulation of eugenol derivative on the hair of black mouse (C57BL/6), was also carried out using Implant method. When its ethanol solution was administered to the black mouse by route of skin, eugenol derivative promoted the growth of hair.

To investigate the antialopecic effect of N-4-salicylomide-2-amino-6-piperidinopyrimidine 3-oxide(SALMI) and its salt on the hair of black mouse (C57BL/6), this study was carried out. When salmi and its salt in ethanol solution were administered to the black mouse (C57BL/6) by route of skin, both of them promoted the growth of hair.

To investigate the effects of N-4-salicyloamide-2-amino-6-piperidinopyrimidine 3-oxide (SALMI) on the blood pressure, this study was carried out in rats, using ethanol as vehicle. When Salmi and its salt were administered into the rat by oral administration or i.v. injection, both of them decreased blood pressure. But when Salmi was administered not more than 200㎎/㎏(oral) and 30㎎/㎏(i.v.) and Salmi·HCl was administered not more than 100 ㎎/㎏(oral), they did not significantly influence on the depressor effects of blood pressure.

We have synthesized the cinnamyl derivative of minoxidil, N-2-cinnamylamino-4-amino-6-piperidinopyrimidine 3-oxide(MINAMYL). Physicochemical properties and structural analysis on this compound were examined. And also, we have screened its antialopecic effect.

7-o p-Fluorobenzoylchrysin was synthesized by condensing p-flouorbenzoic acid with chrysin in organic solvent, and its structure was identified by NMR, MS, UV, and IR. We also investigated the physicochemical properties, hypoglycemic effect, and the quantitative analysis method of this compound. The correlation coefficient of calibration curve on this compound was approximately 0.9945 by absorption spectrophotometry and 0.9989 by high perfornance liqid chromatography. 7-o-p-Fluorobenzoylchrysin was resolved in 6.014 min by reversed-phase HPLC column with solvents consisting of methanol (80%) and 10mM phosphoric acd. Its blood glucose inhibition rate is 20.7%.

The combinations of N-4-salicyloamido-2-amino-6-piperidinopyrimidine 3-oxide (Salmi) and two transitional metals were colored. Among metals, Fe(III) made a distinct colored complex with Salmi. The mole ratio of Salmi and Fe(III) in the complex was 1:1. This Salmi-Fe(III) complex was recrystallized in Hexane/Acetone(=10/1, v/v) and investigated its physicochemical properties. The color of this complex was changed by pH.; deep violet pink in acids, orange in neutral, and yellow in bases. The range of color change was approximately 0.7 pH unit. Acid-base titration of various acidic or basic drugs using Salmi-Fe(III) complex as an indicator showed good accuracy and reproducibility.

When this derivative in ethanol solution was administered to the back of mouse by method of skin paste, this derivative promoted the hair growth of mouse.
