Objective of this study is to compare the inherent characteristics of natural convection flow inside the canister of spent fuel dry storage system with different backfill gases by utilizing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. Four working fluids were selected for comparison study. Helium currently used backfill gas for canister, air, nitrogen, and argon are frequently used as coolant in many heat transfer applications. The results indicate that helium has very distinct conductive behavior and show very weak natural convective flow compared to the others. Argon showed the strongest natural convective flow but also the worst coolability. Air and nitrogen showed similar characteristics to each other. However, due to difference in Prandtl number, nitrogen showed more effective natural convective flow. These results suggest that experimental validation for the nitrogen is needed to investigate the potential coolability other than currently commercially used helium.
High Density Composite Condensation Particle Agglutination ( HDPA ) 법을 이용한 신증후출혈열의 혈청학적 진단

This study was undertaken to define the sensitivity and specificity of the high density composite condensation particle agglutination (HDPA) method for serological diagnosis of HFRS and to evaluate the applicability of HDPA method for the measurement of antibody titers in sera from patients with HFRS. With sera from laboratory-proven patients with HFRS, experiments were carried out to compare, 1) the sensitivities of HDPA with that of indirect imrnunofluorescent antibody technique and 2)antibody titers measured by both methods, and to follow the increment of antibody titers with paired sera of patients with HFRS. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Statistically significant agreement was observed between results of serological diagnosis of HFRS by HDPA method and indirect immunofluorescent antibody technique. 2. Highly significant correlation was observed between antibody titers measured with indirect immunofluorescent antibody technique and HDPA method. (r=0.7614, p<0.001) 3. Of 10 paired sera of patients with active HFRS, four-fold or more increment of antibody titers appeared in 9 sera by test with HDPA method. This study indicated that the HDPA method is potential for the serologic diagnosis of HFRS.
