As we develop a platform for electric vehicles, slim cockpits, swivel seats, and flat floors are required to expand indoor space. In order to cope with this, a new type of HVAC concept needs to be reviewed. In this paper, the HVAC mounting location and structure were optimized for cockpit slimming. In order to secure an indoor space, the concept of moving the blower unit and the heater & evap unit of HVAC mounted indoors to the PE room has been implemented. The HVAC in the PE room was optimized considering the layout with the surrounding parts, and the performance was verified through the HVAC internal flow analysis and system bench experiment. Based on the results, the PE room HVAC concept can be applied to electric vehicle platforms in the future to commonize platforms and secure indoor space.
