다중 지능 이론을 적용한 초등 영어교재 모형 개발 연구

The purposes of the study are (1) to develop a model elementary English textbook and its accompanying CD-ROM based on the theory of multiple intelligences and (2) to investigate the effects of the model materials by designing and handling out a questionnaire to elementary school teachers. The model textbook for the 5th grader was developed and based on a newly revised English curriculum in Korea, the principles of elementary English education, and the theory of multiple intelligences. The items on the questionnaire were designed to evaluate the model textbook and CD-ROM, consisting of sixteen items categorized in terms of five elements: creativeness, teaching and learning perspective, the ease of using, motivation, and the principles of multiple intelligences. The last question was open-ended, which asked the teachers to write their personal opinions about the model. This questionnaire was given out to 100 English teachers who were currently teaching English at Korean elementary schools. The results of this research show that the model textbook and its accompanying CD-ROM based on the theory of multiple intelligences can be used in classroom activities effectively. The English materials should be designed with various activities arranged on the basis of the multiple intelligences to stimulate each student’s intellectual potential.
