본 연구는 마코프전환모형(Markov switching model)을 이용하여 부산지역의 경기 특성을 제조업과 서비스업으로 구분하여 전국의 경우와 비교분석하였다. 양 산업의 활동수준을 나타낼 수 있는 통계자료로 전국과 부산에 대한 산업생산지수와 대형소매점 불변판매지수의 월별자료를 각각 이용하였으며, 주요한 분석 결과로 전국과 부산지역의 제조업 경기는 상당히 다른 국면에 있음을 알 수 있는데, 이는 부산지역 제조업의 구조적 특성에 기인하는 것으로 해석된다. 한편 소비형 서비스업 부문 경기는 제조업의 경우와 달리, 전국과 부산지역에서 분석 기간 중 대체로 유사한 패턴을 보임을 알 수 있었다. This paper investigates the properties of business cycle in Busan region using Markov switching model in terms of manufacturing and service sectors and compares with those of the national economy of Korea. For the empirical analysis, industrial production indexes are used for both Busan and the national economy, in addition to constant sales indexes of large retail stores on a monthly basis. It is shown that there is a significant difference in the business cycle of manufacturing sector between Busan and the national economy, but a similarity in the business cycle of service sector between the two. These outcomes are attributed to the properties of industrial structures of Busan region differently from those of the national economy.
