본고는 1995년 개정 보완된 $\ulcorner$외국학술잡지종합목록:과학기술편$\lrcorner$ 데이터베이스를 분석한 것이다. 본 데이터베이스는 국내 253개 기관에 소장되어 있는 외국과학기술잡지 13,449종의 서지정보와 소장정보를 수록하고 있다. 본고에서는 이들 수록자료의 발행국, 발행언어, 발행빈도, 주제분야별 분포 현황, 그리고 중복소장 현황등이 분석되었다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the data of $\ulcorner$Union Catalog of Foreign Journals$\lrcorner$ Database, which has been revised and updated in 1995. The database includes 13,449 titles of foreign journals in scienc and technology which is a collection of 253 libraries in Korea. The items of analysis are nation, language, frequency, subject of each title, and also collection overlap, etc.

문헌정보학 분야의 연구개발 지원방법과 방향을 설정하기 위하여 영국도서관 연구개발부(이하 BLRDD)와 미국도서관진흥재단(이하 CLR)을 현지에서 조사하였다. 본고에서는 양기관의 연구개발 지원활동의 역사, 조직의 개요, 지원방법, 대상분야의 특징 등을 간단하게 설명하고, 양기관이 문헌정보학계에 이바지한 역할을 기술하고자 한다. 그 역할은 다음의 네 가지로 요약 할 수 있다. (1) 문헌정보학의 선도적 연구를 위한 자금지원과 문헌정보학의 학문적 기여 (2) 연구기관 및 연구자의 육성 (3) 도서관 정보서비스의 개선과 이의 도서관 보급 (4) 전국적이고 국제적인 수준의 연구교류 기회 제공 I had a chance to learn about grants made by British Library Research and Development Department in London and the Council on Library Resources in Washington in my studies designed to produce an institutional vision of supporting research and development in the field of library and information science in Japan. In this article, I have tried to elucidate contributions of the two agencies to the librarianship and research communities, reviewing their histories, management process and some features of research areas which meet their standards of providing grants.
