러시아 유럽지구 남부스텝지역 하자르시기 매장유구 출토유물에 보이는 세계수 형상에 관한 검토

세계수 형상과 관념은 우리나라를 비롯하여 유라시아 초원지역에 분포하였다고 알려져 있다. 러시아 유럽지구 남부스텝지역의 하자르 분묘유적 중 하나인 카스트르스키(Kastyrsky) 제 VI 고분군 제 2호분에서 出자형 문양을 기본 모티브로 하는 골제함이 출토되었다. 골제함에는 출자형으로 도식화된 나무와 새가 표현되어 있고, 나무는 상하단의 문양대와 연결되어 있어, 천상-지상-지하라는 세 개의 세계를 연결하는 세계수 관념과 연관된다는 것을 추정할 수 있었다. 더욱이 피장자가 여성이라는 점, 대퇴부 골제함과 상감유리구슬과 철제원판이 배치, 골제함에 새겨진 세계수라는 문양은 이 분묘의 주체가 상징성을 가지는 존재이자 종교적 역할을 수행하는 인물이었을 가능성을 보여준다. 세계수와 여성의 조합은 해당 지역에서 기원 전후한 시기부터 나타나는 것으로 미루어 보건데, 이 지역에서 최소한 기원전 1세기부터는 세계수 관념이 있었으며, 9세기까지 여성을 중심으로 하여 세계수와 관련된 전통이 이어져 왔음을 추정할 수 있다. It is known that the idea of the World tree is distributed in the Eurasian steppe including Korea. From the burial No.2 of the 6th Kastyrysky barrows were found the bone case with the simple geometric patter of tree. On the bone case it was engraved the schematized trees and birds, and the trees are connected to the upper and lower pattern tape. So it can be assumed that it is related to the idea of the World tree which connects the three worlds : heaven-ground-underground. Because it was found the women skeleton with the bone case, eye beads and iron disk, so it maybe possible to suppose that person buried in this grave might be symbolic meaning and religious role. Due to there are some archaeological cases of evidence about the connection between world tree and female, it was allowed to guess the idea of the World tree appeared not late than 1st century BC and the related tradition to the World tree was continued until 9th century AD by maternal lineage in this area.
