The objective of this study is to design the press forming process to prevent the tearing of the polymer laminated steel. The occurrence of PET tearing cannot predict using conventional forming limit diagram (FLD). Therefore, tearing limit diagram (TLD) of the polymer laminated steel was proposed to determine safe region without the tearing. Based on the concept of FLD, the tearing limit curve was established with the critical major and minor strains at which tearing occurred in various deformation modes. Based on the TLD, FE-analysis of a press forming process was conducted to find the forming condition without tearing. The validity of the press forming process was verified by forming experiment. The comparison between the FE-analysis and experimental results indicated that the TLD is efficient and suitable for the design of the press forming process of polymer laminated steel.
