Evaluation method and criteria of vehicle safety has been implemented for improving vehicle safety and providing information to customer. Car manufacturers are working on various research and development in response to the trend. High speed film data among sensors and measuring data of vehicle crash test play an important role in analyzing the result of test for safety performance. Also industrial conversion from analog to digital enhanced the usage of the image data. In this paper, Head drop test of FMH (Free Motion Headform) was carried out and made an acquisition for 6 data, 3 accelerations (x, y, z) and 3 angular velocities(x, y, z). Image analysis was implemented with high-speed digital images. It was compared sensor data with the image result of 2D and 6DOF motion analysis using TEMA Automotive software. Motion analysis was performed with images of 1000fps, 10000fps and 3 different group of target describing 1 rigid body model. As a result, 6DOF analysis with 10000fps image shows best correlation with sensor data.

The increasing number of vehicles has given rise to frequent traffic accidents. The safety become one of the most important factor for customers to purchase a car. To meet customers' needs, NCAP(New Car Assessment Program) test is performed in many country such as US, Korea, and Europe. EuroNCAP performance becomes important to Korean car makers as the number of exporting vehicle to Europe market increases. The assessment of EuroNCAP frontal crash test includes the criteria of dummy injuries, vehicle measurements of deformation and the subjective modifier. Among the subjective modifier. the Chest Contact Modifier is one of the most ambiguous modifier because of difficulties in getting sufficient clues. In this paper, sled test was carried out using KNCAP full frontal crash pulse to analyze shape patterns of chest acceleration pulse which is one of the information of chest contact modifier. The test result was showed that four patterns of obscure pulse shape in vehicle crash test were categorized and these pulse patterns were clearly revealed to be occurring chest contact or not.
AE-MDB 시험과 EuroNCAP 측면 시험 비교 연구

In response to enhanced regulation of vehicle safety, manufactures have improved vehicle design and stiffness. ECE Regulation 95 is a side impact test for European regulation and so be EuroNCAP side impact test for market requirement. Two tests are nearly same test method. However various researches report that ECE Regulation 95 barrier face does not reflect evolving vehicle design and impact performance. EEVC(European Enhanced Vehicle-safety Committee) Working Group 13 has recently made a proposal for an improved barrier face, AE-MDB(Advanced European-Mobile Deformable Barrier). In this paper, 2 tests -AE MDB, EuroNCAP Side test - were carried out and compared with current product vehicles with similar structure. The weight of AE-MDB is 550kg heavier and its deformable barrier face is stiffer than current EuroNCAP barrier. As a result, AE-MDB test shows higher vehicle velocity and dummy injuries (HIC36, rib compression, pelvis force) than EuroNCAP. However the differences of two test results were not that big due to airbag to protect dummy head and chest. Passenger dummy head contacted to c-pillar and injury was higher than driver dummy. So it needs to be installed restraint system to protect dummy head and chest like driver dummy. B-pillar intrusion of AE-MDB test increased 14% and rear of front door intrusion was increased.
