According to Dictionary, Universal design refers to broad-spectrum ideas meant to produce buildings, products and environments that are inherently accessible to older people, people without disabilities, and people with disabilities. The 7 Principles of Universal Design were developed in 1997 by a working group of architects, product designers, engineers and environmental design researchers, led by the late Ronald Mace in the North Carolina State University. The purpose of the Principles is to guide the design of environments, products and communications. According to the Center for Universal Design in NCSU, the Principles “may be applied to evaluate existing designs, guide the design process and educate both designers and consumers about the characteristics of more usable products and environments.” The Principles can be categorized into 4 types: perceptiveness, accessibility, usability, and safeness. Students learned this theory and found design examples in the each category in their campus environment through the field survey project of “Spatial Design Issue” class. The results of students’ field survey showed students’ improvement in the universal design concept recognition and application ability.

During the Middle Ages, artists painted in a way that emphasized religious images and most paintings depicted scenes holy figures and people important in the Christian religion, and information about the decoration of interiors is scarce. Its history has to be pieced together from surviving objects and illuminated manuscripts. The aim of this study is to explore the historical period style of dining areas focusing on the Last Supper works of Middle Ages. The observations can be summarized in three following categories: First, interior decoration characteristics of wall, floor and ceiling. Second, furniture characteristics such as form of furniture, furniture arrangement and seating layout. Lastly, objects of tablecloth, tableware and cabinet.

From the fall of Rome, when the city was finally sacked by Odoacer in 476, to the 15th century, when the Renaissance was already well advanced, information about the decoration of interiors is scarce. Artists painted in a way that emphasized religious images and most paintings depicted scenes holy figures and people important in the Christian religion during the Middle Ages. Its history has to be pieced together from surviving objects and illuminated manuscripts. The Annunciation is the title of those pictures that depict the Angel Gabriel coming to Virgin Mary to announce to her that she will give birth to Christ. The scene is usually laid in Mary"s house. The aim of this study is to explore the historical period style of residence interiors focusing on the Annunciation works of Middle Ages. The observations can be summarized in two following categories: (1) Interior of wall, floor and ceiling. (2) Furniture of bed, chest, bench, settle, cupboard and prie-dieux.
노인요양기관의 욕창발생 위험요인과 욕창예방 관리: 혼합연구
윤혜선(Haesun Yun),박지연(Jeeyeon Park) 한국산학기술학회 2020 한국산학기술학회논문지 Vol.21 No.3
논문검색어는 ‘pressure ulcers’, ‘bedsore’, ‘decubitus ulcers’, ‘intervention’, ‘prevention’, ‘elderly’, ‘long term’ 단어를 조합하여 검색하였다. The purpose of this study was to compare the risk factors of pressure sores and preventive intervention strategies and to provide basic data for the management of pressure sores prevention for long-term care facilities. It was a mixed method study using a systematic literature review and focus group interviews for analysis. A PRISMA flow diagram was prepared in accordance with the research selection process for the systemic literature review. The studies were retrieved from domestic and international studies from 2010 to June, 2019. A total of 8 studies were selected according to the selection criteria. The studies were searched electronically using a search engine with the key words of "pressure ulcers", "bedsore", "decubitus ulcers", "intervention", "prevention", "elderly", and "long term". Focus group interviews were conducted through a semi-structured questionnaire for nurses who had worked for more than three years in long-care facilities. The study results suggest that position change and pressure reduction device reduced the incidence of pressure sores and were important for prevention. The use of standardized care protocols is necessary. Multidisciplinary cooperation was an important issue.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of interior design curriculum and courses in Korea using case studies and conduct an intensive case study in a CIDA-accredited interior design program in the United States. The Interior Design Program at Michigan State University was chosen for the case study because it has been accredited since 1975 and has successfully renewed their accreditation a few years ago. The analysis of Korean curriculum shows that many interior design programs offer three categories of the courses: (1) theories and issues, (2) technique and skills, and (3) implications and practices. In Michigan State Interior Design Program, the main components of the curriculum and courses are based on the Professional Standards by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, like other CIDA-accredited programs in the US. Their courses emphasize implications and practices so that students can start their professional career right after graduation. Course titles and contents are flexible, within the criteria that CIDA requires for the accreditation. The findings from these case studies indicate the strong need for interior design curriculum in Korea to provide diverse topics that CIDA"s standards recommend. Design studio projects should integrate other course contents and promote practical solutions so that students could be ready for their career right after graduation.
