The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of parents' dietary habit and nutritional recognition on the dietary habit of disabled students and to provide information to establish dietary guideline for disabled students. The less fast-foods they ate, the less snack they ate (p<0.01). Seventy percents of students had an unbalanced diet. Their disliked foods were vegetables, fruits, meat, and fish and the reasons were taste, strangeness, smell, and shape. The students with disliked food had 10.54 point higher dietary score than those without. Average frequency of snack was 1-2 per a day. The parents thought that school meal provide sufficient nutrition provided fewer snacks to their children (p< 0.05). The types of snack were milk and dairy products, fruits and fruit juices, and breads. Thirty four percents of the parents had disliked foods, such as meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products because of its taste, smell, strangeness, shape, and color. Most parents did not know enough about nutrition labeling. Parents obtained nutritional information mainly from TV and radio. However, highly educated mothers obtained nutritional information from newspaper and magazine (p<0.05). Dietary score of the parents was higher than that of children by 3.83 points. Dietary score of students whose parents had an unbalanced diet was lower than that of the students whose parents did not, suggesting that children's dietary habit were influenced by their parent's. In addition, dietary score of students whose parents know nutrition labeling well was higher than that of the students whose parents don't. In conclusion, dietary habits of the students and their parents had a significant positive (r=0.53, p<0.01) correlation.
