The crashworthiness analyses are carried out for the rectangular section which have an important role of absorbing the impact energy during fromtal crash. The treatments of hourglass controls and various contact types are addressed. Two hourglass control schemes, viscous and elastic, and three types of contacts, sliding with separation, self-contact and one way algorithm, are imtroduced and examined in crash analyses of frame. And the effect of initial imperfection is investigated and verified by experiment.

General machinability evaluation was done under various circumstances. It spent a lot of time to get an accurate evaluation results by doing lots of test. This research will find the influence on machinability from mechanical properties of material in order to minimize the cost of time. So we have been selecting the most compatible engineering plastic material to be used for the PCB test Module as the probe base. The hardness test, compression test and tension test were carried out to get the mechanical properties. The test method was observed by ASTM standard. But some test conditions followed different optional conditions for real processing conditions. Consequently, this study will propose for standardization which machinability evaluation can replace it from only mechanical properties.

Nonlinear spring element was imported into explicit finite element program for vehicle crash analyses. Axial-crush and bending-collapse of the box beam were expressed by nonlinear spring element in combination with Belytschko beam element, using axial crush and bending collapse theories. Some verifications were compared with those of commercial finite element code, PAMCRASH. Shell models and nonlinear spring models for box beams were analyzed for axial crush and bending collapse and the results of the latter were on good accordance with those of the former.<br/>
