Many Combined Cycle Power Plants(CCPP) are installed for managing peak and cyclical loads, so the Daily Start and Stop (DSS) operation is often chosen. For that reason, the wall temperature of Heat Recovery Steam Generator(HRSG) which is a part of CCPP changes frequently and this is one cause of casing damage. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the thermal stress on HRSG casing and find the root causes of damages as well. For analysis, wall temperature was recorded during start up from real plant and operation data was collected. Also, unrecorded wall temperatures were calculated. Stress analysis was conducted using commercial finite element software. On the evidence of result, some limited ideas represented to prevent damages.
