마을숲에 관한 주민의 인식과 마을숲 보전에 대한 참여 가능성 -강원도 춘천과 강릉의 네 마을숲의 사례-

본 연구는 마을주민의 마을숲 보전활동 참여 가능성과 마을주민의 인식의 관계를 밝혀 마을숲이용관리에 관한 정책의 개발에 기여하고자 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 ``마을숲의 지리적 위치, 소실가능성, 마을 주민의 사회경제적 특성이 마을숲 보전에 대한 마을주민의 참여의식에 영향을 미칠 것이다.``라는 가설을 설정하였다. 이 연구는 강원도 영서와 영동의 오래전부터 전래되어온 마을숲이 존재하는 대상지를 설정하였다. 연구대상지 네 마을에 거주하는 마을의 주민 110명을 대상으로 1대1대면 조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과 마을숲이 내륙인지 해안인지에 따라서는 주민들의 마을숲에 대한 인식에는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 전반적으로 해안지역 마을주민이 마을숲에 대한 관심이 더 높게 나타났다. 마을숲의 소실위험과 마을주민의 마을숲에 대한 인식 사이의 관련성을 분석한 결과 소실위험이 낮은 마을과 소실위험이 높은 마을의 주민들간에 마을숲에 대한 보전활동 참여 책임감에 있어서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마을주민의 인구학적 특성에 따른 마을숲에 대한 인식, 지식, 보전의도 및 보전사업에 대한 참여정도에 주민의 성별, 연령, 직업, 소득 및 거주기간이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 주민의 마을숲에 대한 ``책임감``, ``주관적 판단력``이 그들의 마을숲 보전에의 참여의사에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 ``마을숲 보전에의 참여의사``는 ``마을숲 보전에 대한 참여행동``에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 마을숲 보전 정책이 수립할 때 마을주민들의 사회경제적 특성을 고려하여야 할 것이다. This study was conducted to contribute to the development of policy regarding to utilization and management of village woodlands by examining the relationship between villagers` participation willingness in projects of village woodlands conservation and their perception on the environment. In this study, it was hypothesized that the location and loss possibility of village woodlands, socioeconomic factors of villagers may have an influence on the villagers` participation perception on the conservation of village woodlands. Villages with traditional village woodlands in Yeongseo and Yeongdong regions, Gangwon Province were selected as cases for this study. The 110 villagers in four villages were surveyed by the one-to-one interview. The results indicate, that the village`s location, specifically whether is located in inland or seaside, has little relationship with the villagers` recognition on the village woodland. Generally, residents who have lived in seaside showed higher interests on the village woodlands than inland residents. In the relationship between the loss risk of village woodlands and the villagers` perception for village woodlands, villagers with low loss risk of village woodland showed the higher participation responsibility for the conservation activity of village woodlands than villagers with high loss risk. The sex, age, occupation, income, and residence period have a statistically relevant influence on perception and knowledge on village woodlands, conservation intension, and degree of participation of villagers in the conservation project of village woodland. On the other hand, it was revealed that the responsibility and subjective judgment for the village woodland have affected to the intension of villagers`s participation in the conservation project of village woodlands. In addition, their participation intension has an influence on their participation behavior. Therefore, the socioeconomic factors of villagers should be considered for the establishment of woodlands conservation policy.
