In this paper, a dynamic control strategy of the CVT speed ratio is investigated. Firstly, dynamic models of the CVT vehicle including shift dynamics, hydraulic control valve, line pressure control module are obtained. Based on the dynamic models, simulation program "ACVTSIM" is developed. Simulation results show that the higher the speed ratio velocity, the better the kick down response and limitation of the speed ratio velocity is required for comport ride when lift foot up occurs.<br/>

In this paper. a static control strategy of CVT speed ratio is investigated. In order to operate the engine on the optima] operating region corresponding to the driver ’ s desire and the driving condition. a fuzzy control logic is used. In the fuzzy controller, S_factor is suggested which is defined as a degree of sportiness for the normal driving. Also. L_factor is suggested which determines the engine brake capacity for coating ‘<br/> Simulation results show that the fuzzy controller designed in this work selects the optimal driving mode automatically for the driver' s demand and driving condition
