The position of the thermodynamic equilibrium for reverse thermochromic spiropyran 6-carboxylates (SPCOOHs) was easily determined in aqueous binary mixtures, such as water-methanol, water-acetonitrile and water-dimethyl sulfoxide. The existence of more than one type of interconvertible species of the ring-opened form of SP-COOH in aqueous binary solvents enables us to evaluate the molar extinction coefficients of the ring-opened species of SP-COOH and to obtain the thermodynamic parameters.

The unequivocal solid-state structure and stereochemistry of the hetaryl leuco-TAM dye, 2,2’-(2-phenyl propane- 1,3-diylidene) bis(1,3,3- trimethylindoline) derivatives were established using X-ray single crystal analysis. The X-ray crystal analysis showed that the (Z, E)-isomers only formed stereoselectively, with a so-called “threebladed propeller” conformation, from the reaction of a Fischer base and benzaldehyde derivatives. These isomers were stacked in a juxtaposition to form a dimer or a double dimer, adopting either a triclinic, with P-1, or monoclinic crystal system with a space group P21/n in the unit cell of the crystal.

진한 황상 용액에서 4'-halogenated azoxybenzene 유도체의 Wallach 자리옮김 반응을 UV-Vis 분광학적 방법으로 재조사하였다. 흥미롭게도 log(rate)와 pi 비편재화 파라미터라 불리우는 치환체 상수, ${\sigma}_R{^+}$와의 도시에서 아주 좋은 직선관계$(logk_{obs}=-0.61\;{\sigma}_R{^+} -3.29,\;{\gamma = 0.998)$를 얻었다. 그 겨로가로 공명효과에 의해 크게 안정화될 수 있는 즉 + 전하를 가진$(DC^{++})$중간체를 거치는 B-L 메카니즘이 Wallach 재배열 반응에 더욱 강력히 주장된다. The Wallach rearrangement of 4'-halogenated azoxybenzenes in strong sulfuric acid was reinvestigated by UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. Interestingly an excellent linearity $(logk_{obs}=-0.61\;{\sigma}_R{^+} -3.29,\;{\gamma = 0.998)$ was obtained on plotting log (rate) vs. substituent constant, ${\sigma}_R{^+}$, which is known as the Pi delocalization parameter. Thus B-H mechanism via a charged intermediate $(DC^{++})$, which can be largely stabilized by resonance, is far more favored for the Wallach rearrangement.
機能性 染料1, 빛변색성염료1, 3, 3-trimethylindolinobenzopyran 誘導體의 合成과 特性에 대한 硏究

The photochromic dye, 1,3,3-trimethylindolinoenbenzopyran, were prepared from the reaction of 1,3,3-trimethy1-2-methyleneindoline with substituted salicylaldehydes. The spiro-ring formation of several spiropyran derivatives from their "open-form" precursors has been studied from spectrophotometric method in various solvents at room temperature. Rates(k₂)for the ring-closure reaction of spiropyrans were consistent with the first order kinetics. Plotting ?? versus solvent polarity parameter, ??, give a good linearity and λmax of spiropyrans versus solvent porarity parameter also showed a reasonably good linearity. A linear relationship (Y=4.5 X+1.6) was obtained between ?? and ∑σ, with ∑σbeing Taft and Brown substituent parameters.
