The present study was undertaken to evalute the effect of ethionine and butylated hydroxytoluene(BHT) on the changes of lipid peroxidation, total lipid, phospholipid, total cholesterol, and total triglyceride of liver and kidney in male rat. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1) Hepatic and renal lipid peroxidation were significantly increased by ethionine administration(I.P.). But after concomitant administration of ethionine (I.P) and BHT(I.P or P.O.), lipid peroxidation of liver and kidney were significantly decreased in comparion to that of ethionine alone injection(I.P) 2) Total lipid and triglyceride of liver were significantly increased by ethionine injection (I.P.). But after concomitant administration of ethionine(I.P.) and BHT(I.P. or P.O.), these values were significantly decreased in comparison to that of ethionine alone injection(I.P.) 3) Althought total lipid and triglyceride of kidney by ethionine alone injection(I.P.) were slighylt increased in comparison to that of normal group, there were no differenc betrween these two groups. After concomitant administration of ehionine(I.P.) and BHT(I.P. or P.O), these values were significantly decreased in comparison to that of ethionine alone injection(I.P.). 4) There were no effect on phospholipid and total cholesterol of liver and kidney by ethionine alone injection(I.P) or concomitant administration of ethionine(I.P.) and BHT(I.P. or P.O.)

The present studies were undertaken to evaluate the effect of vitamin E and CCl₄ on the change of hepatic triglyceride, hepatic cholesterol, hepatic phospholipid, hepatic total lipid, and hepatic lipid peroxidation in male rats. The results lipid from this study were summarised as follows: 1 . Hepatic phospholipid of CCl₄-treated rats was increased in proportion CCl₄dosage but after concomitant injection(I.P) of vitamin E and CCl₄, hepatic phospholipid was significantly decreased in comparison to that of CCl₄-injected rats. 2 . There was no effect on hepatic cholesterol concentration in the rats' liver adminstered by either CCl₄alone (I.P) or concomitant injection (I.P) of vitamin E and CCl₄. 3 . Hepatic triglyceride of CCl₄- treated rats was significantly increased in comparison to that of normal rats but hepatic triglyceride of rats of concomitant injection of vitamin E and CCl₄was significantly decreased in comparison to that of CCl₄alone injection. 4 . Hepatic lopid peroxidation of CCl₄-treated rats (I.P. injection) was significantly increased in proportion to CCl₄dosage in comparison to that of normal rat. 5 . Hepatic lipid peroxidatio was significantly increased by CCl₄alone injection(I.P), but after concomitant injection(I.P)of vitamin E and CCl₄, hepatic lipid peroxidation was significantly decreased in comparison to that of CCl₄alone injection. 6 . Hepatic total of CCl₄-treated rats was significantly increased, but hepatic total lipid of rats of concomitant injection of vitamin E and CCl₄was signifcantly decreased in compareson to that of CCl₄alone injection.

The effects of halothane and tocophercel on the changes of hepatic total lipid, glycogen and lapid peroxidation in mice, were studied. The results were summarized as follow: 1) hepatic lipid peroxidation content were significantly increased by halothane administration, but, after concomittant administration of tocopherol and halothane, hepatic lipid peroxidation content were decreased compared with that of halothane alone administration. 2) hepatic glycogen were significantly decreased by halothane administration. The decrease rate of hepatic glycogen induced by halothane were significantly decreased by concomittant administration of tocopherol. 3) hepatic total lipids were slightly decreased by halothane administration. but concomittant administration of tocopherol did not affect hepatic total lipid contents

Twenty four Sprague-Dawley strain male rats, body weight ranging from 155g to 194g, were devided into two groups. (control group and viatmin B_12-deficent group) The rats of control group (A group) were fed with normal diet. The rate of Vitamin B_12-deicient group (B group) were fed with Vitamin B_12 deficient diet. Body weights were measured once a week. R.B.C., W.B.C., Hct., Hb., and plasma protein were measured on day 14 and day 21. After sacrificing rats on day 21, liver weight, heart weight, succinate dehydrogenase CoQ reductase activities of liver mitochondria and heart mitochodria were measured, and light micrograph and electon micrograph of liver cell and heart cell were taken. The results were summarized as follows: 1. vitamin B_12 deficiency resulted in a decrease of growth rate of body weight (on day 21, body weight of A group; 343.5±10.1, body weight of B group; 236.3±7.6) 2. Succinate dehydrogenase CaQ reductase activities of the rat liver mitochondria of B group were significantly increased than those of A group. But thee was no effect on the succinate dehydrogenase CoQ reductase activities of rat heart mitochondria. 3. Mean corpuscular volumes of blood cell of B group were significantly increased than those of A group. 4. Vitamin B_12 deficiency brought swelling of liver cell and liver mitochondria, and injury of liver mitochondria. 5. Vitamin B_12 deficiency significantly increased smooth surface endoplasmic reticulum of rat liver cell, but decreased rough surface endoplasmic reticulum of rat liver cell.

Unlike with Co Q10, an analog of Co Q10 having M.W. of 320.4 had no effect on Adriamycin-caused widening of QRS interval or elongation of QT duration of electrocardiogram. The analog itself did not affect on the parameters of electrocardiogram or on the growth of body weigth in rats.

Vitamin B_12 deficiency has been shown to result in an decrease of the bodyweight, and an increase of the succinate dehydrogenase CoQ reductase activityof liver mitochondria of rat. But There was no effect on the succinate dehydrogenase CoQ reductase activityof heart Mitochondria of rat. CoQ_10 had no positive effect on the hematological data, body weight, andSuccinate dehydrogenase CoQ reductase activity of both liver and heart of rat.
