The genus Iksookimia (Actinopterygii: Cypriniformes: Cobitidae) is a bottom-dwelling freshwater loaches, which are well-known as their endemism and high geographic variation. However, population genetic relationships among Iksookimia spp. have remained unclear due to a shortage of genetic markers that can be applied generally in the genus. Here, we developed high-resolving microsatellite markers using I. koreensis and I. longicorpa as representatives of Iksookimia species because of their wide distribution range and phylogenetic position. Ten of polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated from Iksookimia koreensis and were successfully cross-amplified in I. longicorpa. The mean number of observed alleles per locus was about 10.4 (range, 2-17) for I. koreensis and about 13.2 (range, 2-24) for I. longicorpa. The loci, IK03 and IK08, deviated from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in I. koreensis, after applying the Bonferroni correction. The microsatellite markers obtained in the present study will be useful to evaluate population genetic structure and to establish conservation strategies for I. koreensis and related Iksookimia species.
상업용 효소제를 이용한 무증자 쌀 발효 증류식 소주의 제조 가능성

The production of distilled soju by fermenting nonsteamed rice was evaluated using commercial enzyme products. White koji and modified nuruk had alpha-amylase activities of 31.90 U/g and 3,532.71 U/g, respectively, and gluco-amylase activities of 698.32 U/g and 4,899.58 U/g, respectively. The enzyme products had activities of 5,604.15-225,182.00 U/g and 13,517.41-120,822.41 U/g, respectively. At enzyme concentrations of >800 mg/L, the Chung-moo-purified enzyme had an alcohol productivity of ≥19%. Nurukzyme R400, Sanferm Yied, and Diazyme X4 exhibited alcohol productivities of >19% at concentrations of >600 mg/L. The alcohol content of the vacuum distillates was 41.31%-44.86%. The volatile component with the alcohol content adjusted to 25% was analyzed and principal component analysis was performed. The volatile components in white koji, Diazyme X4, and Sanferm Yield were similar. The modified nuruk treatment group had a relatively high ethyl lactate content compared to the white koji treatment group. The Nurukzyme R400 treatment group had high contents of butyric acid and ethyl butyrate. The Chung-moo-purified enzyme was characterized by a low component content. Thus, when enzyme products were used in nonsteamed rice fermentation, no effect on the alcohol productivity and quality of vacuum distilled soju was observed, suggesting that it can replace white koji and modified nuruk.

Arsenic and heavy metal contaminations in soils by smelting and mining activities have been serious problems in Korea. In contaminated soils, arsenic and heavy meals can be present as various solid-state speciations by various mineral-water interactions, which can affect their mobility and removal efficiencies. In this study, we partitioned soils into six particle size fractions (2000-500 μm, 500-250 μm, 250-150 μm, 150-75 μm, 75-38 μm, <38 μm) and evaluated arsenic and heavy metal contamination characteristics in each particle size fraction. Then we evaluated the effect of particle size on soil washing using oxalic acid. In each soil particle size fraction, arsenic and heavy metal concentrations were highly correlated with organic matter contents and arsenic was mainly present as arsenic bound to amorphous/crystalline oxides. In soil washing, arsenic bound to crystalline oxides and arsenic in small particle size fractions showed low removal efficiencies. 국내 광산과 제련소 부근 토양 중 비소 및 중금속의 오염이 심각하게 나타나고 있다. 오염토양 중 비소 및 중금속은 오염원과 토양환경의 특성에 따라 토양광물과 다양한 반응과 토양 입경에 따라 여러 형태로 존재할 수 있으며 이러한 비소와 중금속의 존재형태는 환경 중 이들의 위해성과 토양 정화 시 정화효율에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 비소와 중금속으로 오염된 제련소 주변 토양의 입경 별 비소 및 중금속의 오염특성 및 존재형태를 평가하고 입경에 따른 비소 및중금속의 존재형태가 정화효율에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 토양 중 비소 및 중금속의 농도는 토양 중 유기물의분포와 강한 상관관계를 보여주었으며 토양 중 비소의 대부분이 비결정질/결정질 산화물에 결합한 형태로 존재하였다. 옥살산을 이용한 토양세척 결과 토양 중 결정질 산화물에 결합되어 있는 비소의 비율이 증가하고 입경이 작은 토양에서낮은 비소의 정화효율을 보여주었다. 이는 토양 중 비소가 토양광물과 강하게 결합하여 존재하기 때문인 것으로 여겨지며 따라서 토양 중 비소의 존재형태가 토양 중 비소의 정화효율에 크게 영향을 주는 것을 확인하였다.

흔히 10년이면 강산이 변한다고 한다. 적정 기술의 개념이 처음 제시된 후 지금까지 강 산이 여섯 번도 더 변했을 세월이 흘렀다. 슈마허가 미얀마에 파견 중이던 1955년, 한국 은 국제통화기금(IMF), 세계은행(WB) 등 국제금융기구에 가입했다. 당시 1인당 국민총소 득(GNI)은 65달러(약 7만3000원)에 불과했다. 1996년 선진국 그룹인 경제개발협력기구 (OECD)에 입성했고, 2009년엔 OECD 산하 개발원조위원회(DAC)에 가입해 세계 최초로 원 조를 받던 나라에서 원조 공여국으로 변모한 기록을 세웠다. 하지만, 급속한 경제성장과 함 께 그늘도 생겼다. 대기업 중심의 경제로 인한 불균형이 대표적이다. 국가의 평균 경제 수 준은 향상됐지만 이와 함께 소외된 사람들도 생겨난 것이다. 한국식 경제 발전 모델이 바 람직한가에 대한 고민과 함께 상충되는 개념인 적정 기술이 보완책으로 떠올랐다. 지속 가 능하고, 소외된 사람들을 살피는 적정 기술이 현대사회의 그늘을 보완하는 역할을 할 수 있기 때문이다. 본 글에서는 적정 기술이 21세기를 살아가는데 있어 왜 필요하며 어떤 의 미를 가지는지에 대해서 살펴보았다.

With the steady growth in the scale of the domestic traditional liquor industry, the interest in makgeolli has also been increasing. As the demand for makgeolli increases, interest in manufacturing differentiated makgeolli by adding additional raw materials such as fruits is increasing. In this study, makgeolli with low storage persimmon juice was manufactured, and the sweet taste of persimmon was imparted without adding sweeteners. Unsweetened, high-quality persimmon makgeolli with an alcohol content of 15% or more was manufactured and its quality characteristics were analyzed. Yeast was selected after producing fermented yeast by treating domestic isolated yeast and commercial yeast. Upon producing fermented yeast, persimmon makgeolli was manufactured by varying the amount of persimmon juice added to the fermented yeast. As a result of analyzing the quality characteristics of persimmon makgeolli, the pH was 4.02-4.25, the total acid (citric acid, %) was 0.30-0.43, the amino acidity (glycine, %) range was 0.05-0.15, and the alcohol content (%) was 15.64-18.48.(p<0.05). Reducing sugar (%) was 1.82-12.68 and total sugar (%) was 1.41-10.42, exhibiting a tendency to increase as the amount of reducing sugar and total sugar and the amount of juice added increased (p<0.05). Considering the sensory characteristics, a sample with 50% persimmon juice added showed a significantly higher residual sugar content, and the residual sugar content had a positive effect on the sensory characteristics. Therefore, 50% persimmon juice was added when making persimmon makgeolli. It is suitable for high-quality, non-sweetened persimmon makgeolli that preserves the taste of persimmon, which suits the consumers'taste.
