Directional control valve is a main part of the hydraulic power steering system. It consists of a control spool, a housing and many hydraulic parts. The main roles of a directional control valve is link the working oil to the wanted direction . Flowed working oil through the directional control valve that operate the actuator to the specified direction so, it can makes steer the wheel&tire end of the drive shaft by using small force. Here, the structural characteristics and design parameters that directly affect to the dynamic behavior of the hydraulic system. The goal of this study was to understand the hydraulic fluid flow within directional control valve by using 3-D numerical method and wanted to know the pressure drop characteristics. To improve the convergence and robustness of the simulation model, a grid system was constructed with tetrahedron type grids all around the valve. Through this study we could know the CFD results relatively well matched with the experimental data.
