      • 現代 西歐 倫理思想의 發達過程에 關한 一硏究

        The great innovation was found in the ethical thought of mordern Eruopean by existentialism or existent-philosophy. It is worth while think first in what sense and how it was to be made so. And then, I have attempted to explain what kind of ethics or ethical thought we are expected to have in existentialism or existent-philosophy. Such as this will be the subject-matter of this little treatise. First of all, it will be better to start by investigating again the movement of modern ethics of the early part of the twentieth century. J.S. Mill's and other's utilitarian ethical theory was the leading theory of ethics in the late nineteenth century. And next, it will worth saying that the ethical theory of the twentieth century began with a dissatisfaction in the utilitarianism. In other words, ethical theory of personalism appears in this age in order to satisfy thisdissatisfaction in the utilitarianism. But Kant's ethical theory has committed a fault whichis connected with his formulism. And so, it has become the fundamenatal problem of ethics in the twentieth century to correct this fault of Kant's theory of ethics. The personalism not concerned with the formulism, saying again, has been the idea of ethics of those days. I have attempted to explain and investigate the ethical thought of existentialism, after analysing the ethical thoughts of the utilitarianism and Kant which were the important schools of ethics in the early partofthe twentieth century.

        What is human being? This is the problem which we have studied for a long time as the human history. Knowledge about man abounds today, cultural anthropology, anatomy psychology, sociology and other allied fields of study continue to reach into their respective aspects of what man is and what he does. But no man who had solved this problem completely was ever found at all. It will remain an eternal problem for usto solve.

        Human life is worthwhile. We live to search for the usefulness(worth) and depend on it. Because of it, shan't we live? The usefulness is able to depend on our life, become the contents of the life, and become an aim of the life. We can also call it happiness, God, the highest value, or the greatest matte of concern-ment. We look for it into the growth of sons and daughters, the education of their children or the property(goods), the authority, the honor, seeking after truth and so forth. When we never felt or completely lost the worth, we trun back the shadow of the nihility into our mind. We con't escape and completely forget from the nihility. However shall we adopt the nihility itself? In order to learn how to conquer the nihilim I have set up the main aim(purpose) to search the Nihilism of Nietzsche, the fist complete nihilist of the westurn Europe, and then the philosopher who had experienced himself the nihilism from his inside.

        One of the pregnant passages from the last parts of Neitzsche's autography, Ecce Homo, in his late years is as follows; "Hat man mich Verstanden? Dionysos gegen den Gekreuzigten...." These enigmatic paragraphs may be suggestion in the conclusion of this paper in a sense. The word, Dionysos, appeared veriously all the time from his first work, Die Geburt der Tragodie, to his last years work, Der Wille Zum Macht. Therefore, this writer thought his whole philosophy to be found in this word, and intended to set up the subject for this paper. But this will be only a part of his philosophy to be studied in this paper.

      • Kant의 道德哲學에 關한 小考

        We should devide Kant's philosophy which was called the basis of recent philosophy into two kinds of formal and active philosophy about object. One is logic as philosophy that we only study formal and rule about general, thinking without relation to distingush object. The other is physics and ethics as philosophy that we are studying special object and rule of object depending on it. There is an ethics researching "What is good?" What is rule which decide a good? and what is the best good that we are keeping for moral life, as if there is an physics which explain phenomenon appearing from nature. Scientific knowledge describes activity or phenomenon to be as the earth's revolution and rotation, and explain the cause appeared to phenomenon, and prophesies on foundtion explained and described. And it is knowledge which need of control whether something that we hope appear or not. It is not partially truth that we can describe, explain, prophesy and control something which did not agree with factor at least. The first necessary factor that scientific knowledge need, should be truth. We sometimes say that the ethics is very important. But we should characterize the spirit of value research to express with that "someone is right", that "someone is good", that "someone is value" and that "someone is hopeful." Then the spirit of value research was divided into two kinds of method. One is metha-ethics: analytic ethics. The other is normative ethics. Analytics ethics speak a concept of good so that it is ethics of good which we study that something coincides in a definition. On the countrary normative ethics is rule ethics which we devide good and evil on standard moral rule. But Kant's moral rule is not a rule on the basis of some experience contents. It is a priori rule from freedom of will. Here I, writer, put object to research with theory of Kant's ethics who is normative ethics among two kinds of ethics theory. This paper is an attempt to study on an aspect of Kant's moral philosophy.

      • Kant의 道德法則에 關한 小考 (Ⅲ)

        Kant's moral law must have an absolute universality. Then his moral law disapproves allkinds of external desire such as pleasure and happiness-a posterior element. It call's for what is done only with conciousness of pure duty. We can behave conformably to our duty with the conciousness of our self-interst. Kant, however, says that though such an act is not against duty, it can hardly be called to be moral, because though conformable to our duty, it is not from our duty. This belongs to the principle of happiness. The principle to happiness is Hypothetical imperative, and moral law is called Categorial Imperative. Kant insisted that Categorical Imperative shoold be the only principle of morality. He said that this was principle which should be unconditionally observed by all rational beings. The Catergorical imperative is an imperative that indicates the thing with which we have to do. If we act along the principle of the Imperative, everything will be the absolu te goodness. At the same time, with action which is worth doing, he himself had made an error and must be fallen into the transcendental form. It was his first subject that Kant had established a basis of the moral universal validity and then had led the ethics to a scholarship. He though this principle to be the next subject that is applied for the practical life of a human being. So it is true that he dedicated a lot of time and an effort in order to establis the subject, but the result of his work was finished by the fundamental work and everyone that reads his moral metaphysics will be able to understand it easily. In this view, I insist that it will become the main point to research for what the subject of Kant's ethics is. This paper is an attempt to study on an aspect of Kant's moral philosophy.

      • 倫理的 價値判斷의 問題

        It is true that the problem of value judgment is one of the most fertile domains of philosophy. The problem of value judgment-the goodness and evil, the right and wrong, the beautiful and ugly is concerned with the total conscious activities of human beings. We are still disputing about the value judgment of good and bad. If we think of the Thesis of goodness, we also think of the Anti-thesis of evil. The value judgment of good and evil has many different meanings; does the value judgment of good and evil belong to human mind? Or does this belong to the conduct or the object of estimation? We can't give up this problem because of its variety, one the contrary, we have to discern different characters and clearly know its conception.
