        The values of diglyceride, total cholesterol, free cholesterol, ester cholesterol, lecithin and free fatty acid in the organs, viz. liver, heart and lung were measured to observe the change of lipid metabolism of the animals during fasting and feeding different quality of diets with or without V-E supplement. The animal used for the experiment was adult female albino rat from a pure strain, weighing 225-280g. The animals were divided into 6 groups; the control group(S). the fasting group(Ⅰ), the high carbohydrate diet group(Ⅱ), the high carbohydrate diet with V-E group(ⅡE), the high protein diet group(Ⅲ) and the. high protein diet with V-E group(ⅢE). The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Diglyceride contents in the liver, heart and lung were once increased during 1 to 4 days in the(Ⅰ) compared with those of the(S), there after they were decreased on the 8 days fasting. They were increased in the(Ⅱ and the(Ⅲ), but the values in the(ⅡE) were more increased than those of the(Ⅱ). 2. Although the total cholesterol contents in each organ were considerably increased in the(Ⅱ) and the(ⅡE) compared with those of the(S), and the values in the(ⅡE) were lower than those of the(Ⅱ) while they were considerably decreased in the(Ⅲ). And there was no significant difference between the(S) and the(ⅡE). 3 The free cholesterol contents in each organ didn't show a significant change in the(Ⅰ), but they were increased in the(Ⅱ) while they were decreased in the early stage of(ⅡE) compared with those of the(S). They were decreased in the(Ⅲ) and no significant difference on the(ⅢE) compared with those of the(S). 4. The lecithin contents in each organ were increased distinctly on the first day of the(Ⅰ) and they were increased steadly in the(Ⅱ) or the(ⅡE), and they were significantly increased during first 5 days in the(Ⅲ), thereafer they were significantly decreased for the 10 days compared with the first 5 days whereas they were distinctly increased during first 5 days in the(ⅢE), thereafter, they were no marked change. Therefore, as the above results showed, the value of diglyceride contents in the each organ of the V-E enriched high carbohydrate diet group was rather much increased than the high carbohydrate diet group. The total cholesterol in the each organ was much more decreased, whereas the lecithin contents in the each organ were more increased after 10 days in the V-E supplemented high protein diet group than non-supplemented one.
