The activities for the development of STEP-NC, a new STEP-compliant data model for the NC controllers, have been started since 1998, and recent tests showed that the new process chain allows savings of about 20% of total machining cost. The primary goal of the paper is to develop a 'data model', which can be a foundation for the exchange of product data in rapid prototyping(RP) as the one among STEP-NC modules. User requirements have been collected and analyzed in order to formulate a basis for the RP data model that is expected to be a functional model for estimating time and cost for part fabrication.
자동차 Cockpit Module에 적용을 위한 Flat Wire System 개발

In recent years, various electric components have been applied to cars to improve driver and passenger comfort, and to provide lots of information for driver. Therefore, combination of the electronic components are increasing and the weight of wire harness for signal transfer is also increasing. But, in the existing manufacturing process, failures in to automobile wire harness account for at least 30% of all automobile electronics failures. This failures are directly related with car cost. The accurate product cost including working hours and wages should be estimated at the stage of concept design. Multiplex wire harness such as FFC and FPC recently have been applied to most home electronics to transfer multi-electronic signal. If multiplex wire harness has been widely used in automobile fields, the production process and cost will be cut down. In this study, the FFC was examined the availability on automobile cockpit module, and was designed and manufactured to apply electronic components connection in cockpit module. The FFC connectors were developed to interconnect FFC with the other device such as PCB, RW and another connector.
